[November 18, 2017]  You want success and you want it now! If you haven’t gotten to where you want to be yet, chances are that you will have to modify your leadership approach.

There isn’t a universal approach when it comes to being successful in business and entrepreneurship. Still, a couple of strategies can be expected to deliver much better results than others.

Dedicate Enough Time to Important Tasks

Learning how to prioritize is one of the success imperatives. You should know how to dedicate enough time to the important tasks at hand by eliminating mundane responsibilities or delegating those to somebody else.

Focus on what matters the most and if you have to, increase the amount of time you dedicate to it. Most business owners and entrepreneurs feel pressured to move at the speed of light. Hurrying up through everything, however, leads to omissions and underutilized opportunities.

As already mentioned, delegating is one of the keys to being successful. Say that you have to do essay writing and strategic business plan development. Somebody else can handle the first one, which will free up some time for the strategic development of the business. Needless to say, the second task is much more important and it can’t be handled by just about anyone.

Speed Up Interactions with Others

Various reports suggest that business interactions with others take up way too much time.

To be a better leader, you have to learn how to communicate effectively with colleagues and business partners without wasting time.

You can have an agenda and move things along without being rude. It’s simply a matter of listening to others and guiding them in the right direction whenever they appear to be distracted. Set a time limit for the meeting and make sure that the other person is informed of the timeframe. This way, both of you will be motivated to get the most done in the shortest possible amount of time.

Know that it’s Not Always a Good Idea to be a Democratic Leader

Many businessmen and entrepreneurs work very hard to be democratic leaders. While such an approach is obviously great when it comes to getting everybody heard, it can be devastating when speed and efficiency are top priorities.

On occasions, it is acceptable to suspend the democracy. You should have a good idea, however, about when to be a coercive or an aggressive leader. Otherwise, you risk alienating others.

An authoritative approach should be used sparingly. Such an approach mobilizes the team and paints a clear picture of common goals and values. While the goal is determined by the leader, the way to get there will be left to every single individual in the company. Thus, it’s up to you to build the framework and the rest will be left to the employees. They will still get to do some decision-making in the context of a suspended democracy.

The final thing to remember is that it’s ok to break the rules every now and then. The best business leaders know when to improvise and when to do something that may appear illogical to others. Trust your instincts and go with your gut feeling. If you are confident enough in your abilities, you will get to where you want to be.
