Professional Reading List (Update)

By | September 17, 2013

[September 17, 2013]  This afternoon, I’ll be adding two books that I found interesting:

How Successful People Think: Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life.  John C. Maxwell.

In Maxwell’s 2009 book, he says “Good thinkers are in demand.  A person who knows how may always have a job, but the person who knows why will always be his boss.  Good thinkers solve problems, they never lack ideas that can build an organization, and they always have hope for a better future.”  This is a powerful book, it contains classic ideas about people and is a value for anyone who wants to have an attitude adjustment.  One key highlight; we need to strategize about the future, not simply create a boring business plan, but plan our future.

Funding Evil: How Terrorism is Financed and How to Stop It.  Rachel Ehrenfeld.

Although an older book from 2003, Ehrenfeld writes about the sources of terrorist’s financial power and how it actually costs billions of dollars to keep them active.  The primary sources are government corruption, state sponsorship, and the illegal drug trade.  The lack of moral courage is a major factor in allowing the funding of terrorism to continue.
