[August 26, 2026] Failed leaders have awful, predictable consequences, and that is the position of Europe. Europe is in civilizational free fall. Guy Millière’s recent Gatestone piece lays out the case. They are not merely struggling, Europe is sliding toward civilizational erasure.
The statistics don’t lie. What we see here is a tragedy of failed political leadership, and their citizens are going to pay a very heavy price.
The argument he makes, rests on clear statistical data; economic decline, demographic collapse, failed assimilation, and elite resistance to political change. This is not abstract thinking. Yet, the response from European leaders to warnings from the Trump administration is maddening.
When U.S. officials pointed out Europe’s weaknesses, the reply was indignation rather than introspection. That reaction is part of the problem.
Start with the economy. In 1980 the core European Economic Community countries held about 27 percent of global GDP. By the end of 2025 that share had fallen to roughly 15.5 percent.
Social spending consumes nearly 40 percent of European government budgets. Mandatory social insurance contributions make labor far more expensive. Higher costs mean higher unemployment and lower take-home pay.
Energy policy compounds this damage. Restrictions on gas and electricity production plus a rushed push toward renewables have driven natural gas prices three to five times higher than in the United States and electricity prices two to four times higher. Companies relocate. Investment flows elsewhere.
Even basic adaptation lags. Heat waves have killed tens of thousands; more than 20,000 in 2003 and already 25,000 in 2026. Yet, air conditioning remains rare. Costly electricity and cultural resistance to what some still call a luxury leave people vulnerable. And, their population is aging and shrinking.
Mass migration has not reversed the decline in the way some hoped. Most new arrivals come from Muslim-majority countries. Assimilation is limited. Doctrinal Muslim attitudes reject European norms on homosexuality, history education, and secular law.
Millière’s core claim is that these trends are not accidental. High taxes, heavy regulation, energy scarcity, low native birth rates, and large-scale unassimilated immigration form a mutually reinforcing cycle. Leaders who insist “Europe is not facing civilizational erasure” are defending a status quo that the data contradict.
None of this is irreversible in principle. But the window is narrowing.
Cultural habits of self-doubt and elite insulation are deeply set. When American officials point out the obvious, European leaders call it arrogance. That reflex is itself evidence of the free fall.
The numbers are public. The demographic trends are measurable. The political exclusion of dissenting parties is open. Europe’s problem is not a lack of information. It is a refusal to act on it.
Civilizations do not disappear overnight. They erode through policies that prioritize short-term ideology over long-term survival. Millière’s article is a clear-eyed inventory of that erosion. Pretending otherwise only accelerates it.

While some people are out here diagnosing entire continents with civilizational free fall, the rest of us are just trying to celebrate good boys and girls who still believe in the simple things: walks, snacks, and unconditional loyalty.
Priorities.
Failed leaders, and they are too scared to buck the trend of shit countries sending their criminals to Europe or America. At least in America we have President Trump that is slowing the flow. But Democrats in the US hate Americas and want it to be a shit country too.
