Let it Go:  Ukrainian Girl Sings from Bomb Shelter

By | March 8, 2022

[March 8, 2022]  I have a granddaughter who lives in Colorado and, like many young children, is a big fan of the Disney movie Frozen (2013).  And, like many today, we are struggling to explain the events happening in the Ukraine to our families in such a way that we do not hide the realities of war but also knowing we should be circumspect when appropriate.

Yesterday, I was made aware of a little girl (she looks to be 5 or 6 years old) singing, “Let it go” while she is huddled in a bomb shelter.  “Let it Go” is one of the more memorable songs from the movie.  My granddaughter can sing it from memory.  You can see it from the movie clip here (see link).  Its popularity is demonstrated on YouTube as this clip has over 2.7 billion views.

War is bad.  There is no mincing of words from me.  I’ve seen its destructive force and the impact it has on the lives of those involved.  Nothing good comes from this destruction, especially on the most innocent.

When one country invades another and begins killing civilians, words cannot begin to express what we all would wish we could say.  The Russian-Ukrainian War, began about two weeks ago when Russia invaded, has galvanized the world.  How the war will turn out, no one knows!  Even the United States, Europe, and our NATO have not lead from the front on the war to bring it to an end.

The good news is that the war has produced a number of heroes.  Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is one of those heroes … and a little girl.

My kids loved the movie Frozen and also sing the song Let it Go. Gen. Satterfield nailed it with this article. The more we see of this the more we want to help the peoples of Ukraine.

Hey Janna, I think that most of us have a similar experience with our kids and grandkids. I for one, am all in on the movie Frozen. Just a great story to be told. My friends don’t like the movie, but hey, they have their own tastes. I know what attracts me to it. Thanks all.

Another powerful post from the brains of Gen. Satterfield. Well done! Let’s now help Ukraine to resist the forces of evil Russia. The problem, in our long run, however, is not Russia. Russia has an economy smaller than Canada. And remember the Canada’s armed forces are smaller than New York city’s entire police force. The problem is China which is backing Russia. That is where out focus needs to be. We are targeting the soldier, not the soldier’s leader.

Fred you are spot-on with your comment. China is the problem. The CCP is willing to let others do their fighting for them. I guess when they got their butts whipped by the Vietnamese Army decades ago, they decided their strength lies in their economy not their military.

My granddaughter too loves the movies Frozen and Frozen II. She can sing the songs, dresses up, and dances to the music. There is an attraction there. I understand it a little but the girls seem to be most fascinated.

Beware of propaganda coming from Ukraine. It is to be expected and I don’t doubt this story is true. All propaganda has an element of truth in it. General Satterfield gives us a bit of it here. Still, I will admit this is a good story.

True enough. But we should read and see it all. That fact of us being allowing to have it all distinguishes us from tyrannical govts that “filter” what we see before us. That is freedom vs tyranny. The US is moving toward tyranny and we can’t even imagine it.
