[January 27, 2018] It has been said that the best leaders walk a fine line between a strong belief in their own abilities and their arrogance. Former Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke Jr. is one of those men to be admired for his moral courage, strength of conviction, and brashness to stand up to intimidation.
A few years ago, here in the pages of theLeaderMaker.com, I wrote a three-part series on the core values of Americans (Part I can be found here. I argued that Americans have a number of strong values that are distinctive and make up the essence of what it is like to be a good American.

Number 4 on my list of American values is “strength and winning.” That is what Sheriff Clarke is about … strength and winning. He is the epitome of it; he exudes it by his presence in a room, and he speaks from his heart passionately. In his quote, Jim Rohn’s description of leadership fits Sheriff Clarke as a successful great leader of our time. Clarke will not stand to be intimidated or disrespected.
Being a politically conservative black man, he has had his share of controversy because people don’t like either his style or what he has to say. For example, his Twitter account was temporarily blocked, he is being sued for “taunting social media posts”, his website attacked for provoking violence, and he has been attacked by the media for not “acting like a black man” should.
Sheriff David Clarke is currently a writer and blogger who tackles big social problems of today in America and the corruption of the political system. A fervent Trump supporter, Clarke made national headlines last year for it and angered many on the left for his brash demeanor and “take no enemies” approach to debate. He regularly writes about controversial topics like race, crime, politics, as well as the dumbing down of the school system, government agencies, and corrupt, untrustworthy politicians.
This guy gives credit where it’s due and steps up to tell the world. It takes considerable moral courage to do so and encourages us to lead by example. Many folk are scared of him … they should be.

There are those who disagree and on the “political left” are willing to use violence to achieve their ends but good folks like Sheriff David Clarke never seem to get a break. This man should run for high office so he can “kick butt.”
