Should NY Governor Cuomo Step Down?

By | August 4, 2021

[August 4, 2021]  For those following the extreme divisiveness of American politics today, you are familiar with the dual scandals coming out of the New York governor’s office.  The long-term care facility deaths and multiple claims of sexual harassment would push most anyone out of a serious leadership position.  Not, Governor Cuomo.

So far, Gov. Cuomo has seemed to ride out these storms.  But yesterday, New York’s AG Letitia James released her Report of Investigations of Sexual Harassment by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo.  The conclusion is that the Gov. did sexually harassment several women.

In his defense in the press, Cuomo basically says that he more or less paws everyone.  It is an interesting defense of sexually inappropriate behavior when you say, “I do it with everyone.”  Naturally, Cuomo says he will not resign.  AG James says she will not bring criminal charges but will leave that to local authorities in a weird twist of politics.

President Joe Biden said Gov. Cuomo should resign if the investigation into sexual harassment allegations found that Cuomo sexually harassed females.  Asked by ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos if Cuomo should step down in that event, Biden replied, “Yes.” “I think he’ll probably end up being prosecuted, too,” he added.

For now, Biden is quiet.  When his press secretary Jen Psaki was asked about it yesterday, she said that “[Biden] will give his own reaction … later this afternoon.”  We still haven’t heard from Biden.  This puts Biden in a real box.  Cuomo is a highly regarded Democrat and was up and coming until these scandals broke.  And, like so many scandals, there was a serious attempt to cover them up.

There is a leadership lesson in all this for Joe Biden.  There is only one thing for Biden to do: ask Cuomo to step down.  Otherwise, Biden will completely lose face.  Most of us see this as a simple decision.

Governor Andrews Cuomo should resign.

For those who are interested in how leadership works, looking at “politics” may give you a bit of a distorted view. See today’s (5 Aug) article by Gen. Satterfield. Note the lack of due process in this whole affair. Yeah, I think Gov Cuomo should go, quit or be recalled. But there is a legal process for it, not with some crazy AG woman with a vendetta against him.

Due process in politics is non-existent. That is why it is such a tribal and brutal force.

Good point Greg. Just another reason to come to Gen. Satterfield’s website for such a discussion.

This is hardly news. We’ve known about Cuomo and Biden’s proclivity to tough females inappropriately or sniff their neck and hair for a long time. It’s what men like them do. They cozy up to women because they need attention and they have the positions of power that allow them to continue. Where is the outrage from feminists? Silence.

The entire feminist movement is not about women (yes, I know that is a shock to some of you). The movement is about attacking political opponents. The feminist movement has always been and always will be a Democrat Party hammer to hit their Republican competitors over the head. Nothing more. They don’t care about individual women. Look at what they do will tell you so.

Yep, that’s the bottom line. Kill grandma? Okay. Pat a few ladies on their butt? Not okay.

He won’t resign. He’s a Demorat, typical. Blame it on the victim.

Yes, Doug and I do as well. You will find some really decent articles that Gen. Satterfield wants to highlight. I find also that these websites are worth going back to on occasion.
