The Rise of Wokeness in the U.S. Military

By | August 31, 2022

[August 31, 2022]  A recent speech delivered on July 20, 2022, by Thomas Spoehr, highlights the destruction of U.S. military readiness from the rise of wokeness.  Spoehr begins by saying that threats to militaries throughout history are often explained by the lack of discipline in the younger generation.

Not today.  Today’s veterans point to the radical progressive (or “woke”) policies being imposed top-down by elected and appointed leaders who have little understanding of the purpose, character, traditions, and requirements of the military that they are trying to change.

“Woke ideology undermines military readiness in various ways.  It undermines cohesiveness by emphasizing differences based on race, ethnicity, and sex.  It undermines leadership authority by introducing questions about whether promotion is based on merit or quota requirements.”1

The push by those possessed by this progressive ideology did not start with the election of Joe Biden as President.  It began more than a decade ago, and only by looking back can we see the seeds of this pseudo or neo-Marxist approach and its creeping destructiveness to our military readiness.  Any good military is designed to prevent war or, when necessary, win wars.  There is no other purpose.  Anything that detracts from that mission is suspect and will be rejected by any society that doesn’t wish its own death.

[Wokeness] leads to military personnel serving in specialties and areas for which they are not qualified or ready.  And it takes time and resources away from training activities and weapons development that contribute to readiness.”

The ideal military promotes traditional training and education programs based on common grounds and combats racial and sexual discrimination.

“These indoctrination programs [of our military today] differentiate servicemembers along racial and gender lines, which runs completely counter to the military imperative to build cohesiveness based on common loyalties, training, and standards … programs that promote discrimination by replacing the American ideal of equality with the progressive ideal of equity—which in practice means unequal treatment based on group identity.”

We Americans are steadily losing confidence and respect for our military.  Money and time are wasted on woke policies that are racially and sexually discriminatory – and unconstitutional –  that are designed to fight for “advancing equity for all.”  These policies will fail, and the destruction will be dire when they fail as they are destined to do.

Don’t be surprised. Thanks to these weak men, our military is destroyed.

America is going to crap and Joe Biden is the cause. Impeach immediately. Fire every person appointed or hired in any position in the government whatsoever that agrees with him.

The Defense Department is now reportedly considering hiring a private company to monitor the free speech of military personal on social media.

The woke left views the military as a crucial ideological battlefield. And much of the brass and civilian leadership at the Pentagon are prepared to fight — on behalf of the woke cause.

Excellent article, Gen. Satterfield on the severe damage ‘wokeness’ is doing to our country and military. Folks, if you want to read an “unwoke” version of the military, then read Gen. Satterfield’s “Our Longest Year in Iraq.” It’s about as far away from wokeness that you can get.

When official Department of Defense spokesmen attacked Tucker Carlson—who criticized the military’s integration of diversity-centered staffing mandates—they exposed a crucial gap between what Americans believe their military to be and the true purpose of our trillion-dollar war machine. What is being interpreted as an escalation in the culture wars is actually about how our regime perceives power itself.

The common refrain from both civilian leaders and active-duty service members alike is that the military “should be a reflection of our values as a nation.” But the military is becoming a reflection of the values of the global economic order, not those of the United States.

This is so sad that it breaks my heart. Now I no longer recommend the military to our young people in High School. Why join any organization that says you are a racist and sexist just because you are a white male. How pathetically stupid and dishonest.

Got that right!!!!! The US military has gone downhill so fast that it made my head spin. Shows that the senior leaders (generals and admirals) were not good men to begin with.

Wokeness, an extreme version of political correctness, took root in the Pentagon during the Obama years.
