Time Out for a Medical Condition

By | March 4, 2022

[March 4, 2022]  As many daily readers have noticed, I took time out from my leadership blog for the past few days.  This is rare, but in this case, necessary, as I needed special medical care requiring several days of attention.

I did have time to catch up on the news and think about the conflict in Ukraine.  And, I’m happy that my last posting was on the Ukraine situation.  The war between Russia and Ukraine gives a good look at leadership under stress.  When tested, we can observe what works best and what works poorly.  More about that later.

Here are a few observations to think on and some topics I will write about soon:

  1. There is talk that the Russian invasion of Ukraine is pushing a new world order. What this entails has not yet manifested itself.  What we do know is that China and Russia are a threat to this new world order.
  2. We see considerable weakness in Western political leadership (especially in Western Europe, Canada, and the U.S.). Strength in the Chinese leadership.  And confusion in Russian leadership.
  3. Propaganda is increasingly being used successfully in First World nations.
  4. Democratic nations reject the basis of freedom and increasingly use “emergency powers” to control their citizens. This is not a good sign for our future.
  5. When world leaders are focused on events and ideas that have nothing to do with their survival, bad things happen elsewhere, taking them by surprise.
  6. Old, often rejected leadership traits of strength, tenacity, courage, loyalty, and honor show up again as necessary conditions for great leadership. No surprise for readers of this blog.

I’ll be back tomorrow with a new article.

Wow, welcome back, Gen. Satterfield and, BTW, a great list for us to think about.

Others have said so, but I stand redundant to also welcome you back to my favorite leadership website. There is little that we can do to help move forward our societies unless we are willing to work for it. It something is handed to us, there is little value in it. Welcome home, Gen. Satterfield.

I came back to my favorite website and happily noticed that Gen. Satterfield was back on-line. I had no idea. I guess we all have a problem now and again. I’m happy it is working out. I look forward to Gen. Satterfield getting back to the basics.

This one needs to be explored more. I recommend this one as your first article, gen. Satterfield. Take care of yourself, we don’t want to lose you.

Yeah, and while I’m no doctor, I can say that keeping up this leadership blog is good for all our health.

Hi Gen. Satterfield, we are all happy to see you writing again. I liked today’s quick glance at a few future leadership topics. I agree that the Ukraine War is one that deserves a fine look from the perspective of what type of leadership works and what kind fails.

Good to have you back on your blog. We were wondering what happened and hoping you would be back in the saddle sooner rather than later.

Right Frank, this website has been ongoing for more than 8 years, would hate to have it stop now.
