White People on a Hike

By | October 9, 2023

[October 9, 2023]  Humor is an art form.  Art comes in many forms: painting, sculpture, literature, architecture, cinema, theater, music, and video/humor.  One of my favorite commentators on the web is Amala Ekpunobi who alerted me to a great piece of comedic stereotyping, title White People on a Hike.  I loved it and laughed’ nearly spitting my morning coffee out onto my iPad.

The video has over 30 million views and exactly for the reason I loved it.  Most people, particularly white people, said it was hilarious and its so accurate.  So, what does the video do that is so funny and that people everyone are liking it?  The video shows black people on a hiking trail meeting each other and making comments as they pass one another.

“You’re going to love the view.”

“You guys first time?  Yeah Yeah, just keep going down straight.  The waterfall is gonna be on the left.  You’re gonna love it.”

“It’s so green, the colors.”

“It’s worth it.”

Now, I used to hike all over Pennsylvania with my family and this video is spot-on accurate.  This is exactly how hikers talk.  That’s me!

I don’t know who created the video.  If I did, I would say, well done.

And, it’s okay to point out a stereotype in a comedic way.  Amala is right.

Humor or something else. It is all about perception of you watching the video. Laughing is good medicine. So just loosen up and laugh 😃 😀 😄

Eddie, you nailed it. Humor is good for us all. Too bad people are offended by humor. Those folks need to get a grip.

Gen. Satterfield wrote “Art happens, and we want to be part of the art experience. In some sense, art is a sacred object of sorts. We are like ignorant children trying to understand as we gaze at art in amazement and wonder. There is some unknown about life that shines through the art, and we unknowingly take it in.” And if you want to know more about art and its deep psychic advantage it gives us, then I recommend Dr. Jordan Peterson who gives us a great deal of info about art and what it says about us.

Just enjoying the video on white stereotypes. If that is an insult, then you need to go back to being a 5 year old and more lessons from your parents. Only liberals are insulted. Note that and put it in your pocket.

If this video of black people imitating nice white people on a hike offends you, then I don’t know how you make it outside of your basement at all!

Exactly, humor is designed to make you feel good for the moment. And it is truly an art form that Gen. Satterfield points out so well. See Gen. Satterfield’s article, Why Do We Need Art?

Deep. I’m happy that Gen. Satterfield is all over this video and showing that he understands and has a positive view of it. Better to be good and proud than to be angry, bitter, and resentful like liberal/progressives are all the time.

If you can, get your hands on a piece of art. Buy a painting or a song or something that you and others appreciate. Watch it, listen to it, and feel the art. Do this because by buying a piece of art, you are inviting something good into your life. Doing so opens your eyes to the transcendent. We all know, deep down, that we need that transcendent. by Gen. Satterfield.
Sometimes art is free. Take it in and enjoy. This video is one of them. If you are offended, fine for you and sad for you, go home. 🤦‍♂️
