[May 25, 2026] The days before Memorial Day are full of getting the BBQ grills ready, buying hotdogs and hamburger meat, finding where we put the potato chips, and scurrying about to invite neighbors to a fun day out. We probably considered attending a local Memorial Day parade or ceremony. Many folks traditionally do that, and I’m happy for them.
My friends and I were busying ourselves too. Several of us gave speeches at “pre” Memorial Day events. We also attended several events honoring our fallen men and women of the Armed Forces across the county. One of us drove nearly a hundred miles to attend a funeral of a fallen Veteran. And we also spent a couple of days handing out small American flags and collecting money to pay for a World War II memorial.
I don’t travel very far these days. I’m slowing down, just like those friends of mine with me. They call me a “youngster” because anyone under 80 is young for them. But what I admire is they are real go-getters. They are everywhere, ensuring people in our area are aware of the purpose of Memorial Day.
One of the more interesting events I attended was standing outside a grocery shopping market while handing out American flags. Nearly everyone exiting the store had a story about a relative or a friend who had been in the military service. Some were Veterans themselves. Others just wanted to talk. They told me (and my buddies standing there) about their lives and how much they appreciated what we were doing.
The days before Memorial Day have been a whirlwind for me. Now, I’m readying myself for another speech tomorrow. This one will be attended heavily by Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
I look forward to it.
This Memorial Day weekend, enjoy it because America’s bravest and finest paid the ultimate price so you could be free to do so.

Please read my books:
Thank you, sir, for what you do. And I was ready and had a great time speaking with our veterans yesterday during our community events honoring the fallen.
Like all real Americans, I’ll be out today attending various eve with my wife Dale and my four kids, Sal, Stan, Vernon, and Bess. You can’t beat it for free and gives us time to give respect to our veterans who are alive but today we most critically give our respects to those who died for our country. Gen. Satterfield , thank you for being who you are and providing this forum for us to comment about Memorial Day.
I think most of the readers here – those patriots like Gen. Satterfield – were out yesterday also honoring those who lost their lives being a military member of our nation.
“ This Memorial Day weekend, enjoy it because America’s bravest and finest paid the ultimate price so you could be free to do so.” — Gen. Doug Satterfield. Sir, you da man. I love love love your blog.
Gen. Satterfield, I hope to see you out and about speaking somewhere there is a Memorial Day service today on this very respectful day in America. I will salute 🫡 our veterans when I see them, and shake their hands. I will also say, “Welcome Home.”
We all,
should be doing this instead of sitting on our backsides.
EXACTLY. 🫡
I went yesterday to a pre-Memorial Day event by my county because they don’t want to step on local township Memorial Day events. It was pretty good to see so many turnout for it. And, that is a big advantage for those who want to give back to their community. Help them with their events.

I’m a Patriot just like Gen. Satterfield. 😊

I’m ready with the dogs and will be at my town’s Memorial Day parade. 🫡
Jason… we are ready to show our respects to our fallen soldiers who lost their lives defending freedom, as well as ensuring that the American way of life remains a force to be emulated. There is no nation in the world as imperfect or as great as America. And this is so despite the whackos who follow the “pride” crowd down the rabbit hole of personal degeneration. Be upstanding and carry America’s guidon. Like Gen. Satterfield has written often, be part of the team. Your life will be more prosperous and free.
