Choose your Sword and Use it for Good

By | June 10, 2026

[June 10, 2026]  To live a good life, you have to be powerful, formidable, and peaceful, and in that order.  Dr. Jordan Peterson tells us so, in no uncertain terms, as he lays the groundwork for being the kind of person who is willing to voluntarily take on the world.  In essence, he is saying to us, choose your sword and be willing to use it for good.

Our young folk today, especially young men, are being encouraged to be overly accommodating, emotional, easy-going, and weak.  They are taught to run away from danger, rather than running toward danger, where they can make a positive difference.  The message is clear: masculinity itself is bad, you are an oppressor, be ashamed of your aggressiveness, and leave your future up to the government.

This kind of messaging is a tragic cultural failure.  It tells them they cannot fix societal problems because they are the inherent flaw.  The result is a high drop-out rate at school and work, loneliness, despair, lower achievement, suicide, crime, and violence.

The correct counter-message is the opposite.  Young folks have immense potential and something crucial to offer the world.  Choose your sword and raise yourself up; take on responsibility, shoulder the burdens that come your way, aim toward the highest goals, and be the person who can build a family and confront life’s challenges.

By doing this, and by only doing this, can we avoid resentment, bitterness, and escapism.  Be strong. Be decisive. Be ready to charge into danger, for that is the only way to live a righteous life.

Choose your sword, and use it for good.

Thank you, Gen. Satterfield. We should also use this sword in conjunction with prayer to the Lord.
