December 7, 1941 Newspaper Gift

By | December 7, 2025

[December 7, 2025]  One of my neighbors, a Navy Veteran, donated a Honolulu Star Bulletin newspaper 1st Extra edition, dated December 7, 1941 to our local Veterans’ Club.  What a great gift for our Vets.

The headline reads in giant, bold letters, “WAR! OAHU BOMBED BY JAPANESE PLANES.”

The newspaper, as described on EBay, an online site, is a “valuable and historic collectible item that serves as a tangible piece of the past. This newspaper provides a first-hand account of the events that unfolded on the day of the Pearl Harbor attack, making it a significant artifact for history enthusiasts and collectors alike. With its unique content and historical significance, this newspaper offers a glimpse into one of the most impactful moments in American history.”

The significance of this date should be obvious to any patriotic or knowledgeable American citizen.  But that is, unfortunately, not the case.  Many dismiss both the significance of the date and strongly believe the Japanese attack on the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor was America’s fault.

When I joined our Veterans Club some eleven years ago, there were a dozen World War II Veterans and two were at Pearl Harbor the day it was bombed.  Today, they are all gone.

The losses at Pearl Harbor that day, and throughout the war, was a price that America voluntarily took on to destroy the evil aggression of the Japanese Empire and the Nazi Regime.  Nearly four years later, the war was over, millions were dead, economies of many countries were destroyed, and the Soviet Union continued to wage war on its neighbors, as it expanded its empire.

Our lack of knowledge of WWII and the ramifications of that war still haunt the world.  People today still die or are maimed from “dud” bombs dropped on the major cities of Europe.  Hundreds of unexploded ordinance can also be found from World War I, mostly in France where most of the battles were fought.

The costs of war are high.  The cost in lives, the destruction of families, the loss of historical artifacts and valuable structures is incalculable.  But, to answer the question, whether WWII was worth it should be obvious.  War sometimes is imposed upon a free people.  And those people must be willing to make the necessary sacrifices to overcome evil.  Yes, WWII was worth it.

There are still great evils in the world, mostly driven by ideological cancers.  That is Communism (and its sister Socialism) and Islam.  Both destroy the soul.  Both ensure the impoverishment of millions.  Both are designed to make us feel good, and that is why they are so wildly popular.

World War II also provided us with lessons.  And the most important lesson is that while war may be a horrific choice, sometimes it is the only viable option.

Special thanks to the Navy Veteran who gave us this December 7, 1941 newspaper gift.

What a wonderful gift. I see this newspaper is on sale at the EBay site for about $200. I know you won’t sell it, sir. But i do want to give your Navy Vet neighbor a big thank you for this gift to your Veterans population. There is nothing like getting a part of history handed to you. The difference in this case is that you can appreciate it. Not many folks can, nor can they understand the significance of that newspaper. In fact, if you had given it to the average young person today, they’d just throw it in the trashcan because they have zero knowledge of or appreciation for history.

Liz, exactly right,. Today, we don’;t teach history in school, Nor do we teach critical thinking skills. Public schools have become a place for LGBTQ xyz ideolgy, that is it.

Thank you, sir, for this time reminder that we are a product of those who came before us and of our own free will. I remember Pearl Harbor through the old veterans who were there. Sadly, they are all gone now (maybe a few). Never forget.

Gen. Satterfield reminds us to never forget. But, most Americans have not just forgotten, they have reinterpreted what World War 2 was all about. They, today, think the war was about American domination, crazy stuff, i know yet it is out there. When we no longer teach world or American history, and instead fill the classroom with LGBTQ+ crap, this is what happens. I blame parents and teachers – BOTH.

Bryan, yep. And yet the vast majority of folks in American support teachers. And while most are good, there is a large subset of ultra DEI focused and will do anything to pull down the smart kids to make them into dummies. 🤮

Never forget December 7, 1941 and please get a copy of Gen. Satterfield’s books as gifts for this upcoming Christmas season. My favorite is “55 Rules for a Good Life.” Buy it. You won’t regret that decision. And both books are inexpensive and more than worthy of your dollars.

This is, today, a time to both reflect and “never forget” what happened that day, so that we are always prepared. The fact that the US Navy in 1941 had lined up all their battleships and other ships in Pearl Harbor, was making them a sitting duck. Yes, I know they expected another type of attack and thinking that having all their ships together would make them easier to guard (from a ground attack). But the threat from the air was to be a much greater threat than they could imagine. Air attacks would become a decisive factor in WWII. Fortunately, the aircraft carriers were out to sea and did not get attacked.

Jason, that is exactly correct. And yet during Pres Obama’s time in office, he ordered that the Navy to put all their battleships in a row at Pearl Harbor to “look good”. What a total moron he was. Telling the Navy brass what to do when he could barely managed his own household (with a racist wife, Mike). And, to think that at one time I thought presidents couldn’t get worse than Obama, then came along Joe Biden (a total shit show). And his VP Kamala (a total birdbrain). Now she’s out with her new book trying to justify her brutal loss to Trump by blaming Americans. Typical Democrat Leftists blaming everyone for their failures.

Yep, the utter failure of the neo-Marxists is astounding but their ideology is sucked up by young, suppose, fat, ugly, brainless women (more adjectives are okay).
