Got Your 6

By | November 6, 2015

[November 6, 2015]  The point at which those who have served in the U.S. military have the greatest chance of failure is when they transition from military to civilian life.  For me, as for all those I have known, this was of the greatest worry and concern.  Formed in 2012 Got Your 6 is a non-profit organization1 whose leadership believes in veterans and uses their resources to help them over that transition period.

Got Your 6 unites nonprofits, Hollywood, and government partners to normalize the depictions of veterans on film and television to dispel common myths.  They do good work and are helping shape public perceptions so that veterans can be recognized for their leadership skills.  By doing so, Got Your 6 is helping empower veterans to strengthen their communities.  It is believed that this is done through cultural change and that is what they are working toward.

The success of this organization is based on its six pillars: jobs, education, health, housing, family, and leadership.  By embracing veterans as leaders and civic assets in our communities, every person, group, and community is a winner.  This is a testament to the power of their collaboration and the growth of the veteran empowerment movement.

“Got Your 6 continues to ensure all Americans see veterans as indispensable assets that make our nation stronger.” – Got Your 6 Leadership Website

Thanks to those who a part of Got Your 6.  All of us have respect for what you do for our veterans and our communities.2
