Poll Results about Pride in America

[July 10, 2021]  The battle for Europe began on this day, July 10, 1943, as Allies began their invasion of Axis-controlled Europe with landings on the island of Sicily.  Today, I want to compare these young men of WWII to those of today.  I have some recent poll results that tell a surprising story.

I’ve seen many pictures and spoken with WWII veterans about the invasion of Italy and the difficulties they went through.  In the early morning hours on this date, 78 years ago, young American and British paratroopers landed in southern Sicily.  Then came the amphibious invasion.  Within three days, the Allies had taken severe casualties. Still, they drove on by capturing the southeastern part of the island and created a pincer movement aimed at the critical city of Messina.

Morale was high.  Patriotism was at its peak.  Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany were now on notice that young, motivated troops were about to crush fascism.  The Allies had suffered 23,000 casualties in their conquest of Sicily.  German forces sustained 30,000 and the Italians 135,000.  This was no picnic.

A recent poll1 by TechnoMetrica Market Intelligence found that 68% of American adults surveyed are proud to be an American.  The results demonstrate that the leftist description of America as a racist, corrupt, unfair country has not had much of an impact, with one singular exception.  Only 36% of young adults, age 18 to 24, are proud to be an American.

Most of the poll has few surprises.  Men are more proud than women. Whites more proud than blacks and Hispanics.  Republicans are more proud than Democrats.  Those married are more proud than single people.  This young age stands out.  In an article by Terry Jones of Issues & Insights website, he asks whether this is youthful rebellion or the results of years of “indoctrination by a leftist education system?”

President Reagan was right that freedom is fleeting.

    Wow, Gen. Satterfield this is shocking. But after decades of liberal propaganda, I guess that is not too surprising. What to do about it is really what I want to hear. What is most important is to always push back. Never never never give up.

        We’re all for Maureen and anyone – like those who write here in Gen. Satterfield’s leader forum – who plans to run for any political position. We know how to critically think, write and talk. If we don’t, we know it and work at improving ourselves. Get involved, attend meetings, get to know people. Get out of the house and do something for your community. Don’t hunker down in your basement like ole’ Joe.

      Qassim, you got that right. Too many of our youth have been feed a steady stream of cockoo Marxist ideology all their lives and are told they are morally superior and smarter than everyone else in the past. Therefore it is their obligation to take violence to the knuckledraggers like us in flyover country. Politicians are leading those lemmens over the nearest cliff.
