[January 25, 2026] As Winter Storm Fern [an ironic name] races across the country, it means now is the time for snow memes. Remember, I’m a true Southerner in body and in accent, but living in the “North” gives me a weird perspective on winter. I find that wintery snow storms are an admixture of cold, beauty, danger, and excitement; sort of like an unexpected adventure. Of course, my 10-year-old yellow Labrador Retriever Bella absolutely loves the snow. She is like a fish in water as she “swims” through the snow drifts and rolls around like she’s a puppy again. Good work Gen. S for your entertainment. I was snowed and iced in and had to get my snow blower out. Now, I’m getting a little free time, as my job was giving me the day off. But I already cleared my driveway and sidewalks. I didn’t hear that Gen. S was snowed in or lost electricity. I’m praying 🙏 for those who lost heat or power in this large storm, called Fern (and yes, an ironic name).

Old Warrior, you’re always a hoot with your butt kicking comments (pun intended). Let’s recommend to Gen. Satterfield that he, one day, create his Sunday Morning in Pictures dedicated to “butt kicking.” Now that is something we call all get behind. I’ve always enjoyed these. Not much reading, just enjoying. Old Warrior has something in mind when he says it’s about kick ass pictures. And that is purely entertainment and that sometimes is important. I know I’m rambling a tad bit. But I’m stuck in my house (thank god we didn’t lose electricity). Now it’s time to go out and do a lot of shoveling the snow and ice out of my driveway.

Hey Ken, haven’t heard from you in a long long time. How are you? Get any snow or ice? Even I got cold weather down here in Texas. And, I’m not going out at all. Time to sit in my easy chair, read my newspaper, have my dog at my side (good ole hound dog), and drink my coffee black (just as Gen. Satterfield loves his coffee). Now that is the life on an early Sunday morning. I’m not even going to church; much too dangerous today. But later, I’ll be out after all this is past.
