Texas Says ‘Come and Take It’

By | January 27, 2024

[January 27, 2024]  For all the hoopla surrounding politics, one of the most divisive is the Constitutional crisis we are experiencing at America’s southern border.  President Joe Biden’s unwritten but deliberate policy has allowed unfettered access into our country by illegal aliens.  The Texas governor has finally said that his state has had enough and told the federal government they are failing and, therefore, Texas will close the border.  Their slogan, ‘Come and Take It.’1

This Administration’s policy at the border is unconstitutional under Article II, which states that the president must “take care that the laws are faithfully executed.”  By any sane measure, Joe Biden has failed to do so.  More accurately, he has destroyed U.S. immigration laws by allowing, welcoming, and assisting illegal immigration.  Of course, this is an impeachable offense, but the political divisions within the legislative branch are sufficiently toxic that an impeachment is unlikely and a conviction impossible.

In Texas, Governor Greg Abbott decided to take action by erecting barriers and barring U.S. agencies from accessing specific points of illegal entry.  Biden ordered the barriers removed, which the governor refused.  The U.S. Supreme Court voted to overturn Texas’ right to erect barriers and put the federal government back in control.

But Texas is not backing down.  Governor Abbott asserts Texas’ constitutional right to defend itself against foreign invasion.  Abbott issued a document outlining the position of Texas, which lays out their case.  The document is worth reading; see the link here on X.

“I haven’t studied the constitutional issues raised by this crisis in any detail.  For the moment, I would simply say, with Justice Robert Jackson, that the Constitution is not a suicide pact.  No sane interpretation of the relevant constitutional provisions could conclude that a scofflaw president, by violating federal law and betraying his oath of office, can disable the states, who came together to form the federal government in the first place, from defending themselves against foreign invasion.” – John Hinderaker at PowerLineBlog

Will state sovereignty be an issue in the 2024 election?  Illegal immigration is already the number one issue.  Let’s hope this gets settled without violence.

  1. “Come and take it” is a historic slogan, first used in 480 BCE by Spartan King Leonidas I as a defiant answer and last stand to the surrender demanded by the Persian king Xerxes I, and later in 1778 at Fort Morris during the American Revolution, and in 1835 at the Battle of Gonzales during the Texas Revolution.

I’m an American Patriot just like Gen. Satterfield and I believe that anytime you allow uncontrolled access without any form of vetting of those coming in, you are purposefully inviting disaster. Already there are American citizens being killed by illegals. Most of those who are killed are blacks. And we know that blacks will be most negatively effected by these illegals. 🇺🇸
    God Bless TEXAS.

The border have been an issue for several presidents. Both parties workings together for the common good of America will be a starting point. USA the the two letter spells US. Let us sit our differences aside for the common good of us.

Eddie, you’re BACK. We missed you. Thanks for the note. I agree, we all need to work together but that is not what is happening in Washington with all the privileged politicians.

Got that right, Texas Jim. Maybe we could start a rodeo in Washington DC and watch all the Democrats run away (they are cowards anyway) and have a good old time. Plus we could get all the cattle drives to go there and have cow patties on the ground in DC instead of human poop. At least cow patties don’t have dangerous drugs in them. ha ha ha ha ha

“Ten retired FBI directors and experts in counter intelligence sent a letter to congressional leaders warning that President Joe Biden’s border policies have facilitated a “soft invasion” into the U.S. of military-age men coming from terror-linked regions, China and Russia.
They argue a terrorist attack is likely imminent but preventable.

Gen. Satterfield, thanks for getting right to the point. I’d like to see a follow-up once this comes to a head. The next question is what is Joe Biden going to do about it? will he cave? Nobody knows because even Joe Biden doesn’t know that there is a problem … he only wants his ice cream and a place to vacation.

Just loving it. About time we have a meeting of the minds. Either come to American legally, or get deported. Those supporting illegal immigration are openly admitting that they support crime. That is no surprise because most of them are supporting crime in Democrat cities across the nation.

Of course that means we should obey the laws on the books and if we don’t like those laws, there is a mechanism to get them changed. But Biden is NOT abiding by the will of the people so he must subvert the law to get his way.
