The Truth Destroys the Tyrant

By | January 23, 2026

[January 23, 2026] There’s a quote from Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn that is incredibly inspiring. It goes something like this: “One man who stopped lying could bring down a tyranny.” The power of truth can truly lead to significant change, and we can see it causing the fall of oppressive regimes.  The fall of the tyrant is my theme today.

In his book, The Gulag Archipelago (1958-1968, in three volumes), is likely the greatest book of the twentieth century, partly because it helped bring down the Soviet Union, or at least hastened its downfall. It was the exposure of the USSR’s gulags in his book, along with his detailed account of what happened inside those gulags, that contributed to the long road of its fall. His book of truths also reveals the evil mark that continues to scar Marxist and neo-Marxist ideology.

Through his writings, we gain insight into the human soul and see how easily our morality can be twisted to commit the most heinous acts. This book boldly exposes the evil inherent in utopian systems and Communist ideology, and it demonstrates how goodness can emerge from the cracks of evil.

There is a lesson here: the current movement to use “democratic socialism” or “progressivism” or similar ideologies is based on lies. These lies are deeply rooted and very appealing because they falsely explain why some people are poor and live tragic lives.

The greatest lie is that all human interaction is about power and that the most powerful people have somehow stolen their status from the “oppressed.” Communism and its related ideologies’ solutions to this perceived “problem” are straightforward: violence. The wealthy, the affluent, those of high social standing, and the most respected must be overthrown and eliminated because they are considered part of the “oppressor” class.

Any ideology founded on this always tends toward tyranny. The old saying that you can vote yourself into socialism, but you have to fight your way out, remains insightful.

All tyrannical governments are based on the idea that oppressors must be eliminated. Removing all oppressors is the only way to show compassion for the oppressed. That makes you a moral person to be admired. And we must then ask: exactly who are the oppressors, when do they need to go, who makes that decision, and how should it be carried out?

We understand the “how” from the USSR, China, and North Korea’s developments of that ideology in the Twentieth century. The answer is death, gulags, and concentration camps. And that is exactly what happened in that century, with over 100 million deaths (excluding all wars) that serve as proof of the evil of this ideology.

Tyrannical governments emerge with fair regularity, and they always have a utopian vision as an integral part of their vision.  Mass destruction is inevitable.

🇺🇸 Americans want the truth. And, yes, I do understand that there are also a diversity of opinion on that where many weak-minded people want to be told lies, and live those lives because it makes them feel good or important. We call that entitlement. But here in American, truth reigns supreme because it is Godly. Let’s not mince words here, anything but the truth hurts us all. Be an American and tell the truth, even if it gets you into trouble. 🇺🇸

Joe the Aussie. I know you guys down under have bigger problems with your communist-leaning government, but right now we are seeing an underground insurg3ency develop inside the state of Minnesota, and supported by the state and local government. I sure hope that President Trump strikes them hard and fast. It’s getting out of hand there.

Most of us sane folks are somewhat knowledgeable with this idea that truth reigns supreme. That is the basis, at least in part, to the Judeo-Christian tradition of giving yourself to God. Without truth, nothing really works. And based on truth is trust in your fellow man; again, a basis of Christianity. What we are seeing more of in America and the West in general, is a movement away from these values and the deep religious thinking that has made the world advance so much over the past few hundred years. And, now, we are seeing a sort of nihilism with a tab bit of Satanism thrown in begin to expand. What happens? Fewer children, so demographic collaspe. Hedonism. Resentment. All this reflected in a spike in unfulfilling lives, more illicit drug use, increased violence, and corruption. This does not bode well for America or the west.

As long as America believes in itself and has great leaders like President Trump, we will eventually get back on track. Sadly, many will fight against him. They don’t want to lose their hedonism.

Right!!! Valkerie, you nailed it and thanks for the reference. Full of lies. We all need to be capable and willing to “see” lies and respond appropriately by getting the truth out. We are morally obligated to do so. At least don’t let your family and friends fall for these lies. And yet, you will be also accused of lying. Do not despair. The world is on our side of God and goodness. They love Satan.

Classic. Gen. Satterfield and Dr. Peterson have repeatedly written about this very very important way to properly present ourselves. Do not lie. Do not steal. Do not cheat. That is the way to point yourself in the right direction. Gen. Satterfield has written a book that covers this topic indetail. “55 Rules for a Good Life” is the first book that I read that ever captured this in great depth. Follow these rules and you will be a better person and glad you did. But Gen. Satterfield gives us an understanding of why these proven, sage pieces of advice/rules work. Here’s the link. Check it out. You won’t regret it. https://www.amazon.com/55-Rules-Good-Life-Responsibility/dp/1737915529/

Interesting. Too bad the Democrat Party in America doesn’t realize this. Oh, they want to be, perhaps, the tyrant.
