[August 15, 2021] You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig. For those who remember the final days of the Vietnam War, you will find that once again, American is abandoning its allies and retreating (surrender is a better term) from a fight. We’re getting out of Afghanistan so fast that we are seeing another Operation Frequent Wind event.
We’re bugging out! According to USA Today:
The U.S. Embassy in Kabul has directed its staff to destroy sensitive documents as well as other material that could be used as propaganda, according to CNN and other media outlets.
The missive comes amid a Taliban onslaught that threatened to topple the government. It also comes one day after the Pentagon announced it is sending 3,000 U.S. troops to Afghanistan to evacuate some U.S. embassy personnel from Kabul, leaving only “a core diplomatic presence” in the country.
I certainly don’t blame President Biden for the 20-year war that never really destroyed the Taliban and other such organizations roaming around the mountains of Afghanistan. I was never in that war, but I clearly remember why we went there in the first place. But I will say that there has been a monumental failure of our military and political class to crush the Taliban. That would have come at a hefty cost, right!
The Pentagon under Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III and Army General Mark A. Milley has stubbed their toe big time on this one. They are more interested in getting “diversity and inclusion” right than fighting a war. This is what happens when you put wimps in charge of national security. And Biden is okay with it.
It would be better if the Biden Administration didn’t sound so ignorant about the war. Asking the Taliban to engage in diplomacy is pathetic. The Taliban has a clear intent … take over Afghanistan. Diplomacy? That’s for the weak and stupid. The Taliban have the upper hand and are about to crush the remaining American-supported regime in Kabul. Without U.S. support, twenty years of fighting will have been for nothing.
“The likelihood there’s going to be the Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely.” – U.S. President Joe Biden on July 8
How could Joe Biden be so stupid?
Both Obama and Trump wanted the U.S. out of Afghanistan. Both presidents had enough common sense to maintain our presence to ensure precisely what is happening did not occur. They understood that our retreat (uh, surrender) would mean a Taliban takeover and a bloodbath for those who supported us.
Great nations don’t betray entire populations or the sacrifices of their own troops. They don’t cede total victory to those who attack our homeland. They don’t allow the humiliation by running out on a country of a primitive enemy.
Joe Biden has humiliated the United States.
