Will America’s Appeasement of Iran Spark War?

By | February 3, 2024

[February 3, 2024]  Headlines read, “America and Iran step closure to the brink of war.”  The question that’s answer puzzles senior military and political leaders today in America is whether our appeasement of Iran will lead to a war with Iran.  The answer is yes.  Political appeasement is dangerous, and history tells us that it often does not work.

The most recognized appeasement of the twentieth century was the 1930s British policy of appeasement toward Hitler and Nazi Germany.  The result of their policy was the largest and most destructive war ever in human history, World War II.  Appeasement is a popular diplomatic strategy because it can buy peace, but when it fails, it fails spectacularly.

The question that concerns the Biden Administration is whether appeasing Iran will work.  President Joe Biden believes it profoundly and has gone all out to appease Iran’s mullahs.

  1. Biden greenlighted a payment of $6 billion to Iran to return American hostages, thereby assuring more will be taken.
  2. Biden has publically alienated Israel’s Netanyahu government and pushed a ceasefire with Hamas terrorists, and doing what Iran wanted.
  3. Biden’s spokespersons have openly stated, after attacks on Americans, that the U.S. finds no evidence of Iranian involvement and that the U.S. does not wish for a wider war and has no plans to attack Iran itself.
  4. Biden dropped all significant sanctions on Iran.

America’s leadership has forgotten an ancient wisdom, Si vis pacem, para bellum (If you want peace, prepare for war.).  I will add, prepare for war loudly.  In other words, make it clear to your enemies that you will crush them with overwhelming force and do it disproportionally and unpredictably.

If you want war in the Middle East, then continue with Biden’s appeasement policies.

Appeasement never works! Period. Why? Because it projects weakness and in a world full of evil, evil will take you over if you are weak.

Appeasement is a comprise. We as people can not comprise our own belief to stand up for the truth. Don’t get caught up on pressure from no one to believe not there. If you have to used Appeasement to make things happen for the overall best of the family;church;job and nation make sure its the best.

I agree Eddie that appeasement is a compromise and also a formal policy of the US dept of state. The question before us, is whether this is the right or best policy to use. In the vast majority of cases on international geopolitical issues, the answer is almost always to avoid appeasement, in particular when you are dealing with your sworn enemies. With an ally, maybe appeasement for minor issues is okay. Dealing with evil as in Iran, N. Korea, China, and Russia, appeasement will come back to bite us. Don’t appease Iran because eventually it will lead directly to WAR and leaders like Joe Biden should know better. But Joe Biden is totally mentally lost. Now rogue unelected people are making decisions for him. That alone is dangerous but I don’t want some Gen Z, fresh out of college single white female liberal with a Gender Studies degree making decisions for him.

War is on the horizon. It’s only a matter of time. This is how weak leaders start wars, a little at a time. In America, we have weak leaders and that leads to violence, death, and destruction.

As the article in the NY Post states, “IRGC forces inside Iran will be perfectly safe, even though the White House fully admits Tehran is behind it all.” And that is the point that Gen. Satterfield and so many who have written here are clear about. If you want to punish Iran, then you need to make their evil actions hurt. There are many means to do so, but dillydallying around the problem will solve nothing. And as Gen. S. notes, appeasement of Iran will only result in a wider war. Iran takes appeasement as weakness and meaning they will do anything they want because America under Biden will do nothing serious about it.

Max, you nailed it. How many empty buildings and tents will our multimillion-dollar weapons “annihilate”?

What can I say? OUCH. Biden has failed and the FBI and DOJ and CIA are right behind his failures.

Thanks Gen. Satterfield for helping make the case the appeasement with Iran is the wrong policy direction.

Gen. Satterfield, I know this is the wrong article for my comment, but I’m really loving your “Letters to My Granddaughter.” That series is loving and tells us a lot about you and what made you successful as you were growing up. I look forward to reading about more as you age into your High School days. The early years are also very entertaining and I often find my self laughing out loud with the antics you pulled along with your friends. Stay well. Stay safe. And, this winter, stay warm. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Once again, Gen. Satterfield is all over the geopolitical situation with America and the Middle East. Well done altho a bit oversimplified in one area. But, keep these articles coming to help those who are just getting started in learning about our nation and the world.

History has a way of teaching us lessons. Joe Biden and his ilk don’t know anything at all about it. Gen. S. wrote:

Yes, Kenny, we are in a position now in America where all the sane folks realize that Joe Biden is a worthless piece of crap. What to do about it. Except for a few crazy, fat, lazy, white girls there is no one who believes in Joe Biden any more. LOL.

Great point, don’t forget about the DAILY FAVORITES.
Also, get a copy of Gen. Satterfield’s books ASAP. The last one, “55 Rules for a Good Life” is the first one you will want to purchase and read and then read again. Just buy it. You won’t be disappointed at all.
