[July 6, 2026] I ran across a video that made me think about the idea of beauty as a rejuvenation of the spirit. A content creator published a video showing a tall, beautiful woman in a red dress (based on a classic stewardess uniform) standing on a busy city sidewalk.
The idea was to capture the reactions of passers by after seeing this gorgeous woman standing there. What I like about the video is that it shows us that we have experiences outside the domain of rationality. And that tells us that there is a distinct existence, often indescribable, that is wonderful and a gift to humanity.
Beauty is a curse.
Think about beauty. It grips us and you can look at it, but your mind could say to you that this beauty is nothing of any significance, but the wiser part of you knows that you are brutally judged by it. Look at the women who pass the woman in the red dress. Look at their eyes, how their heads turn, and their body language. It is clear that they see something they do not measure up to, despite most of the women he captures are, themselves, beautiful.
Beautiful is also powerful.
Beauty can also set you straight with the world. It’s real. It’s more real than perhaps worldly suffering. We can become engrossed in beauty and the meaning is more powerful than even death because it lives outside us.
It is an axiom of the ancients that beauty calls us to a higher being and it does that underneath rational thought and that’s partly why Fyodor Dostoevsky said that beauty will save the world. Beauty is the antidote to cynicism, to the over-rationalization of our social world.
Beauty calls us with its representation of the goodness of the world, and it calls upon you to be more than you are, to adopt a way of being that’s engrossed in meaning, as well as a proclivity to be a morally good person. This morality is certainly not accidental.
We see this in the old Christian church when the priests were trying to understand God. He is the sum of all good; the integration of beauty and truth and justice, and all other goods. Beauty becomes a window into the highest good, it is a pointer to the good.
It is good because what could be more vital than a pointer that is immune to rational criticism of the higher good. How could anything be more important, except the higher good itself? Beauty, then, is partly Divine; an element of which represents the depth of the experience; of religious significance.
Beauty is rejuvenation of the spirit.
If we look at the most beautiful objects that human hands have created (art, architecture, music) and our natural resources (mountains, rivers, trees), we often see them as Divine, and of unimaginable value. We make pilgrimages to see beauty because we are drawn to it; and often we don’t know why. It is truly more than pure entertainment; seeing the beauty is a rejuvenation of the spirit.
Take a look at this video on X. I think you might agree with me.
The women looking at her are just as attractive. 👏 pic.twitter.com/cPxHOc9iab

Rejuvenation of the Spirit
All of us need it.
We don’t all get the idea or the thought that we need spiritual rejuvenation.
Learn how to revive our selves, to burn off the cloak of evil, to rid ourselves of what holds us back.
Be all that you could be and more.
We are made to struggle, not to lie on the beach drinking margaritas.
Reminds me of a story that Gen. Satterfield wrote a couple of years ago about when he was in Iraq on his second combat tour. “A Woman in the Red Dress” https://www.theleadermaker.com/a-woman-in-the-red-dress/

Wow, very nice. Made me smile. The reaction of these women “judging” another woman; the lady in the red dress was something I am not surprised to see.
Yeah, Georgie, I noticed it too. And that is the point . We all judge. And for all the whacko liberal women who don’t think so, then here is the perfect scene to show you are wrong, wrong, wrong and should pay more attention to reality. We all judge but women are MORE judgmental than men. If anything here, it shows that to be true. The men are looking in positive amazement at a gorgeous woman, the other women are looking as if they are mad they are not as beautiful. Thank you,, Gen. Satterfield.
The not-so-good-looking and older woman at the end giving an upside quiet compliment is the best. Other than the woman in the red dress, of course. All their reactions are great. Fantastic editing, set up, and music choice. Gen. Satterfield, thank you for making my morning an uplifting one. And, since I’m the first to post this good morning, I’ll be the one who recommends both his books. If you’re new here, get both books and enjoy and learn.
