[July 21, 2026] It is the case that, regardless of how well things are, we know that our circumstances can go sideways. And it often does. It is not easy to keep a fully functional government, community, or family together and on the right path. There are two ways to go about staying on the right path in life: through government or the individual (and family).
One involves adopting as much responsibility as possible, trying to figure out how to get on and stay on the ethical, functioning, and most useful path forward, the other means to hand over your responsibilities to the government. This philosophy (or the ideologies we adopt) will determine how we live our lives and how we see ourselves.
America’s Democratic Socialists of America has just come out with their political platform titled “Workers Deserve More!” and it’s the classic case of stripping responsibility from the person and handing it over to the government. Even the most benign government action designed to create conditions that make it impossible for us individuals to fail, will in fact make us fail.
The greatest problem of Communists and socialist-style governments is that while removing responsibility of the individual, making it unlikely we will economically fail, it also strips us of our honor and respect.
It is structured around major sections with specific demands. I’ve summarized their platform below, but take a close look at these bullet points and see where your responsibilities are removed and what those are replaced with. Here are the primary bullet-point-style planks, drawn directly from the official program:
Thriving Working Class Communities
- Freedom to Flourish: Expand public resources for recreation, learning, and social spaces. Establish paid family leave, a 32-hour work week with full pay/benefits, a living minimum wage, free quality public education (pre-K to college), and cancel all student debt.
- Healthcare for All: Guarantee universal healthcare at no cost (including reproductive and gender-affirming care). Invest in new public hospitals/clinics and make medical education/training public and free.
- Housing for All: Treat housing as a human right. Build publicly-owned social housing, regulate investment properties, implement universal rent control, and guarantee right to counsel for tenants.
- Finish Reconstruction: End legacies of slavery and colonialism. Reinforce anti-discrimination laws, honor treaties/tribal sovereignty, enact reparations, and invest heavily in jobs, housing, and infrastructure in neglected minority communities.
- End Mass Incarceration and Police Immunity: Demilitarize police, disempower police unions, redirect funds to public services (steps toward abolishing police/prisons). Treat addiction/mental illness as health issues. End qualified immunity and strengthen civilian oversight.
- Feminism for All: Advance socialist feminism for queer liberation and working-class women. End gender violence, restrictions on bodily autonomy/abortion/etc., sex discrimination; ensure fair compensation for all labor including care work.
- Green New Deal: Federal jobs guarantee. Massive public investment in sustainable, publicly-owned energy/transit. Phase out fossil fuels and reclaim/repair Earth’s resources.
Working-Class Foreign Policy
- End the U.S. War Machine: Defund the Department of War (Defense). End foreign wars, close overseas bases. Support veterans. End immunity for U.S. war criminals and back ICC prosecutions.
- Free Palestine: Recognize Palestinian rights (return, resist occupation, self-determination in a free Palestine with Jerusalem as capital). End all aid to Israel. Prosecute leaders for alleged genocide in Gaza.
- End Blockades, Embargoes, and Sanctions: Stop economic warfare against independent countries (e.g., Cuba, Venezuela, Iran).
- Abolish ICE: End detention/deportations and agent brutality. Legalize migration, grant amnesty to all immigrants, path to citizenship, end visa caps/quotas.
Working-Class Democracy
- Democracy for All: Extend voting rights to all permanent U.S. residents and those with criminal convictions. Statehood for D.C., self-determination for territories. Protect/expand voting rights and end suppression.
- A Real Democracy: End corruption/bribery (lobbyists, dark money, Citizens United); publicly finance elections. Abolish Electoral College. Replace President and Supreme Court with bodies chosen by/subordinate to Congress. Draft a new democratic constitution.
- A Democratic Congress: Multi-party system via proportional representation and ranked-choice voting. Expand House, abolish the Senate.
- Economic Democracy: Public ownership of largest corporations and essential industries. Aggressive wealth taxes on rich individuals/corporations for public goods.
- Democracy at Work: Protect/expand union rights to organize, join, and strike. Support union democratization and political action.
The platform frames these as steps toward ending “capitalist oligarchy,” building a democratic socialist society with expanded public ownership, and overhauling U.S. political institutions. It includes introductory narrative sections on a post-capitalist vision and analysis of current crises.

Of course, any political platform like this is doomed to fail as all Communist-socialist systems fail of their own weight. There is an easy exercise to see the end result. Just look for any successful government with these requirements and you will find none exists. The reason is simple, they don’t work.

It couldn’t be clearer what the DSA wants: The democratic socialists want to finish the job, launched by Barack Obama on the precipice of presidential victory in 2008, of “fundamentally transforming” the United States. The DSA’s new policy platform, released earlier this month, says the quiet part out loud: “We are workers fighting to transform society,” to “draft a new constitution, and create a democratic socialist republic.”
Personally, I’ve known many young women who are caught up in this because it makes them “feel” better.
Socialists are like Islam, they are all on a fast-moving train to nowhere. Many say they are suicidal. Sadly, we don’t know much about history that schools no longer teach and how these two ideologies have failed dramatically over the past centuries. For those like us who are aware of the failures of these evil ideologies, it is frustrating. Trying to get the uneducated or uninformed to see the destruction that always occurs, is more than difficult, it often seems impossible. Once captured by the mind virus of socialism (see NY City) or Islam (see most of the Middle East), then it is difficult to reverse course. We see a few who are able to throw off the darkness but most just go along with it. Why? Easy! Once they are part of it, they are convinced that they are the “chosen ones” and are, as Gen. Satterfield and others have pointed out, they see themselves as morally and culturally superior to everyone else. And those who don’t adopt their ideology now deserve violence and death. Death is always the end result of these two ideologies.
The DSA is just communism wrapped up in a pretty package. The killing comes later.

Socialism is a form of slow suicide, much like today’s article on “Islam’s Suicide.” Socialism and Islam actually are very similar in structure, but one based on religion, the other on secularism. The rest is mostly identical and it means these ideologies run against the individual’s inherent motivations to elevate the state or Islam above all else.
The economic illiteracy is astonishing. Perhaps we can begin more courses at a much younger age in order to instill the true meaning of various forms of capitalization of the monetary system, and which ones work and which ones fail. That way, when these young folks are about to head off to college, they will have the pertinent info to throw off the propaganda fed to them by leftist, progressive, neo-Marxist professors.

As a regular kind of guy who saw centralized failures up close, I know handing power to the state never creates thriving communities. Instead, it breeds dependency and crushes the human spirit that built the West. True leadership demands personal responsibility, family strength, and ethical self-reliance, not endless government promises. This platform ignores every successful society rooted in liberty and free enterprise. We must reject these failed ideas and recommit to the principles that actually work. A bit of sarcasm goes a long way to destroy despotism and other forms of systems that fails to provide a good grounding in history. We bear to repeat what we do not know.

Tens of millions have died and many many more suffered because of this socialist ideology, yet people still think it will work. That is, my friends, a deep mental illness to ignore reality so often and so thoroughly.
