Incompetence and the Maui Fire

By | August 20, 2023

[August 20, 2023] Investigations into what caused the apocalyptic blazes on parts of Maui will continue for years and, to no one’s surprise, the outcome will be unsatisfactory.  I’ve often written that when leaders are incompetent, bad things happen.  Unfortunately, early information from the Maui fire suggests an unusually high degree of government incompetence that made things much worse.

The U.S. Justice Department announced this week that a special team from ATF is tasked with the official investigation.  This is the same Justice Department that itself has raised concerns about its incompetence, illegal investigations, violating citizens’ rights, selective enforcement of federal law, and mishandling of classified documents.  Let’s hope the team they send to Maui can do their job and are not politically motivated like the DOJ’s current leadership.

The fires killed at least 111 people, and more than 1,000 people are still missing.  The number unaccounted for is simply unacceptable in today’s America.  That is by far not the worst problem.  Are are a few examples of incompetence and malfeasance:

  1. There are unsubstantiated reports that electrical company leaders harried fire crews and other emergency workers, failed to clear lands of brush near powerlines, and were behind on replacing old electric transmission lines.  Their recent focus has been on “green energy” and are ignoring regular maintenance.
  2. Also, the island’s emergency management evacuation siren was ‘purposefully’ not activated.  They claimed sounding the alarm would drive people into the fires.
  3. Property speculators are roaming Maui attempting to buy up land on the cheap, and the Governor is somehow involved. If this is true, we should be ashamed of those in charge.
  4. Maui’s fire departments were accused of leaving the firefighting effort and declaring it ‘out’ only for the fire to restart a short time later.
  5. The firefighting efforts were hampered by a state official’s refusal to release water to West Maui landowners until it was too late.

President Joe Biden did announce that every family would be given $700 to help with immediate needs.  In another meeting that day, Biden announced a $40 Billion aid package for Ukraine.  The contrast is sickening.  This was after he repeatedly refused to discuss deaths on Maui when he said “no comment” and the death toll was at least 53.  He could at least ask us to pray for the souls lost.  He plans to visit Maui tomorrow (Monday), nearly two weeks after the wildfire did its damage.  Where is the President when you actually need him?

“I mean, aren’t we Americans, too?  We’re part of the United States.  Why are we getting put in the back pocket?  Why are we being ignored?” The onetime federal grant of $700 is a “slap in the face.” – resident Ella Sable Tacderan to a CNN reporter

Where is the Biden leadership so many people have claimed exists?  And where is VP Kamala Harris?  Crickets!

The Biden Admin and Hawaiin governor coverup is on going. Will they be exposed? The media is working overtime to coverup their incompetence too. Let’s see if it works or they are exposed for the criminal actions they so blisfully conducted. Malfeasance for sure. Will any of them go to jail? No! Why? They are Democrats. Two tiered justice system in America now.

Joe Biden made a FOOL of himself while in Maui (there only for a couple of hours) and made the trip ALL about himself. Please, note to his handlers, don’t let him talk without a teleprompter.

Part of Pres Biden’s comments from yesterday while in Maui. What an idiot!!!!
“I don’t want to compare difficulties, but we have a little sense, Jill and I, what it’s like to lose a home. Years ago — now 15 years ago — I was in Washington doing “Meet the Press.” It was a sunny Sunday, and lightning struck at home on a little lake that’s outside of our home — not a lake, a big pond — and hit a wire and came up underneath our home into the heating ducts — the air conditioning ducts. To make a long story short, I almost lost my wife, my ‘67 Corvette, and my cat. But all kidding aside, I watched the firefighters, the way they responded.,,,The smoke — and the firefighters here can tell you — sometimes smoke is so thick. From the windows out, it was that thick inside the home. And we were — we were insured. We did not have any problem, but being out of our home for a better part of a year was difficult.”

Where was the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force? We have more than 36,000 troops in Hawaii.

Every day there are more and more crazy-ass stories of government incompetence coming out. From the US fed level to the local level. Now we hear that the police blocked exit routes and told people to return. Fortunately, most people ignored them and ran away anyway. This is CRAZY.

Every govt employee should be FIRED today. Then put on trial for doing the opposite of helping and actually making things much much much worse than it should have been. Oh, Biteme finally showed up. Great. I do believe this was after a couple of vacations after his “no comment” quote on the deaths in Maui. Shameful. This is what voting Democrat party gets you. Death and destruction.

Just another example of people getting killed from believing in the WOKEness of reality (distorting reality never works out well).

Gen. Satterfield, well said. Looks like a clear case of government incompetence on top of government incompetence that just keeps on giving more misery. This is what happens when a WOKE ideology trumps common sense and conservative principles. You get poeple killed. Of course, Pres Biden takes the wrong lesson from this fire and blames it on climate change. A very stupid and ill-informed way of thinking.

Good insight my friend. The Scripture says charity which is love starts at home then spread abroad. Saying we need to make sure our own homeless, jobless are taken care of first in America before sending aids to foreign countries. The first responder findings no or limited water in the fire hydrating needed to be addressed national. Tested and replaced as needed all fire hydrating yearly.

Unfortunately, Eddie, the “government” failed us at every level in the Maui fire. This is a very important lesson for those who believe the government is a father figure.

“I mean aren’t we Americans too.” A damning judgment of the gross malfeasance of our government. Joe Biden = “no comment.” Says it all. Americans, listen up, you need to take back your country.

I’ll begin by thanking all my fans and friends who appreciate my comments on the incompetence of officials in the City of Baltimore. While I am not a citizen of Hawaii (or Maui), I do know ignorance when I see it … and, i’m sure you do as well. The incompetence of the response to the Maui blaze is outrageous. Those involved, at all levels from the lack of a coordinated Federal response and not showing leadership, down to the local responses which were off base in so many ways. It is easy to armchair quarterback afterwards, but I have to say that those who have the job to be emergency responders MUST know their jobs and act immediately. The Fed govt has a part and they completely dropped the ball. Even Pres Biden said “no comment” when asked about the deaths of the Maui fire. Criminal behavior deserves punishment and there are many who deserve to be called criminal here.

RED, you are the BEST. And spot on with your comments. Big fan here and thanks for what you are doing to help also bring sanity to a crazy world that rewards incompetence and promotes stupid people. Here we have plenty of examples to call out and laugh at.

MORE than government incompetence but local scammers are all over and trying to steal property at low costs or outright steal property and the US government and local/state government is doing nothing about it. Well the local govt has been whining about it, without actually doing anything.
