Negative Charisma?  Kamala Harris

By | January 25, 2022

[January 25, 2022]  The idea of ‘negative charisma’ has been popular these past few years.  But is it something real for legitimate discussion, or is it just a way of describing someone you don’t like?  Several pundits say that VP Kamala Harris has negative charisma.  Does she?

True enough, I am a cheerleader for learning lessons from leaders who fail; their failure is beneficial because we don’t have to learn the hard way.  Such thinking is pretty much common sense and will benefit everyone.

So what is negative charisma?  From what I can ferret out of the few articles on the topic, it is just old-fashioned toxic leadership.  I’ve written on this before (see links here and here), and there is a mountain of words written on the subject.

Common themes in these often-passionate articles are that some leaders are arrogant, vindictive, lacking in common sense, too passive, or jerks … or an unfortunate combination of these.  The best effort is to remove these leaders before too much damage occurs.  Most organizations have a process of removing a toxic “negative charisma” leader.

I reject the idea that there is such a thing as negative charisma.

This discussion brings us back to the subject of Kamala Harris.  Her low polling numbers are primarily a result of her abrasive personality and her staff abuse.  That, in itself, is not a sign of poor leadership.  It may be more of her leadership style (which it is) that doesn’t fit well in senior political leadership positions.

Charisma helps lubricate a leader’s ideas, making them easier to sell in convincing others to support you.  People with charisma are good at connecting with people, have self-confidence, are inspirational while speaking clearly and addressing the audience’s needs.

“We must together.  Work together.  To see where we are.  Where we are headed, where we are going, and our vision for where we should be.  But also see it as a moment to, yes.  Together, address the challenges and to work on the opportunities that are presented by this moment.” – VP Kamala Harris, during visit to France1

What the heck does that word salad mean?  Kamala Harris is not an effective leader and not because she is a woman or has a leadership style problem.  She is not good at connecting with people and being inspirational.  This should come as no surprise given her performance in the Democrat Party selection process for their presidential candidate.  She scored very low with voters and seemed to ignore any advice to change how she addresses citizens.

She does not have negative charisma; she is toxic.

All I can say is that I will pray for her to bring more stability to our nation and that she rejects her radical divisiveness. She is not on the campaign trail any more, she is VP of the USA. Get over the politics and do what is right for the American peoples.

YUCK! I may learn a great deal about how best to avoid the typical errors like Kamala Harris has made but I admit to holding my nose while doing so. No, I don’t want to “date” her either.

She is an embarrassment to women who now finally admit that they need a man to help them. That message I thought was rejected a long time ago.

Hearing about Kamala Harris is not a subject worthy of our discussions here. She is doing the best that she can, and frankly, that is not good enough. Nuff said.

Hmmmm, yes, I agree, Ronny. Amazing how someone can get to that level and yet not have the personality for it. She has set back women’s respect by decades.

Good article, thanks Gen. Satterfield. You never disappoint. Let’s use others to help us understand toxic leadership.

Funny how things don’t work out when you don’t care about those around you and are only interested in looking good.

Yeah, but let’s dig deep in what we can learn from this. Making fun of K. Harris is like shooting fish in a barrel, there is not sportsmanship here. Move along. But what is she doing or not doing (like not visiting the border) where we can learn?

Word salad, funny comment. I hope someone got fired if they wrote that for her. Unlike Joe Biden, she normally doesn’t talk from a script, but maybe she should.

Gen. Satterfield, you nailed this one. Now, let’s all move on. The idea that Kamala Harris is a toxic leader should be obvious. The real issue is what can we learn from her and what NOT to do. That is something where we should be doing.

Great article. Killed the idea that negative charisma exists. Off with the heads of those who say so.

Message here, Gen. Satterfield’s article is not about Kamala Harris, so let’s focus on the real topic. Is there such a thing as negative charisma? Apparently it’s just a description of toxic leadership. That topic has been beat to death. Now, is Kamala Harris a toxic leader? This is a different question.

Anyone surprised? If you are, then you weren’t paying attention. There will always be suck ups like Commie Red who will defend even the most abrasive, worthless politician they voted for. Remember Hitler and Stalin how that worked out.

You just don’t like Kamala Harris. She is doing the job she was elected to do and doing it well. Propaganda here about her poor performance.

What has she done that is so great? Did she fix the southern border problem? No. Did she even visit the border? No. Did she make incoherent speeches? Yep. Maybe Commie Red you could name a few accomplishments other than getting elected with a geriatric patient.

Suck up MSN gives us five things she has done. What I liked was the first one on the list, “She addressed the border crisis.” Didn’t solve a blessed thing but “addressed it.’ And another one, “Became the first woman to be ‘ACTING’ President of the US.” Now these are great aren’t they?

When you look up the Peter Principle, there is a photograph of Kamala Harris next to the description. Unfortunately, she got elected to that position and how we will suffer the consequences.

So true! What else would you expect with someone who slept (ie, had sex with powerful men) to the top. And now she is in working as someone who has a job that really matters to many folks. Her performance is horrible and everyone with a brain knows it. Thanks Yusaf, great to see you on again this website.

Way way way out of her league. She’s a cub scout in the US Infantry. She stands out as a dunce.
