Venezuela: A Decline in Leadership

By | November 10, 2015

[November 10, 2015]  The country of Venezuela continues its economic and social decline.  Venezuela’s president Maduro has cracked-down even more on the political opposition and further tightened economic controls as the the country slowly slides into chaos.

The opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez was just sentenced to 13 years in prison for “formenting violence.”  Condemned worldwide as a travesty of justice, the state’s own prosecutor Franklin Nieves has applied for asylum in the United States after confessing he sent Lopez to prison on trumped-up charges.

Venezuela leaders have also created a problem with its neighbor Columbia over the border’s exact location. This triggered an out migration of Columbians. Just another example of Venezuela unnessicarily creating crisis after crisis to generate more enemies of the state.

What will eventually happen to this socialist country is unknown but all indicators are that the end result will cause pain for its citizens. The hardcore socialist policies are a direct result of following a historically failed ideology … socialism.

Western national leaders should take the failures of Venezuela to heart and not think they can improve on socialism.  The West’s tinkering with socialism will always ends the same way … failure.
