Where are the Men of Courage?

[June 4, 2022]  New York Post opinion writer Miranda Devine gives what I believe is the best analysis of the recent elementary school mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas.  With an article (see link here) with the same name, she points out that we should not be surprised the Uvalde police stood aside while a crazed gunman was executing young children.  Men of courage, she believes, are in short supply.

“So.  We vilify action men, brand chivalry and valor “toxic masculinity,” stamp on the manly virtues that made civilization possible.  Then we are shocked when armed cops stand around outside a classroom while children are slaughtered …”

It has emerged that the small Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas was already a “hardened” facility with a police force of six, armed security guards, perimeter fencing, and a locked classroom policy.

“Still, the shooter found an unlocked door, and the only thing that might have saved those children were men of courage and action rushing into the line of fire.  Yes, men.”

The question of how could a deranged shooter get into the building is not relevant.  The real question is, why didn’t the police force rush the shooter.  They recently completed “active shooter” training and knew the approved tactics to charge in immediately and never wait outside the school.

“But armchair Twitter warriors, armed with minimal real data, ranting about cowardice and drumming up death threats for Uvalde police, are missing the point.  You can’t bully people to be brave or nag them into valor.  They either are or they aren’t that way.”

Didn’t we honor those sworn to protect and serve in our police force?  We expected a strong sense of duty, honor, and courage; do we any longer?  Like the NYC firefighters who rushed into the towers of the inferno on 9/11 in New York City, we have a special place for them both in our hearts and in our stories of heroes.

“Now their inheritors show up at emergencies and the public throws bottles of urine at them.  Social-justice warriors and their eager media accomplices smear cops every day as racists and murderers.  #ACAB (“All cops are bastards”) is their favorite hashtag.”

And now, this sense of cultural superiority and a we-know-best attitude has infected the once venerable institution of Psychology.

“Traditional masculinity is psychologically harmful, the American Psychological Association declared in 2019.  These were the masculine attributes it listed as diseased: “stoicism, competitiveness, dominance, aggression, anti-femininity, achievement, eschewal of the appearance of weakness, and adventure, risk and violence.”

Madam Devine points out that the only acceptable man is a man who wants to be a woman.  Ouch.  We are in a masculinity crisis.

“Along the way, we emasculate the institutions that were necessarily masculine for our protection, notably the military.”

Our military institutions are now woke where “diversity, inclusion, and equality” and “halting climate change” are the main focus.  Closing with and destroying the enemies of America… what’s that?  Move along; nothing to see here.

Miranda Devine is masterful in her artwork of an article that should be required reading in all police departments and military units across the nation.  She has it right, and good for her and good for us that there are folks like her who can see through the problem and tell us what we need.

I think this is no surprise and many have been warning us for at least a decade that the attack on men and young boys will not turn out well. Now, we are seeing the fruits of the womens’ movement.

Drew, you got that right. However, the APA long ago sold its soul to the progressive, anti-American agenda and they keep going down that evil path with little regard to the psychological destruction their position takes. Just look at their “confirmation therapy” models they adopted. Want to be a tooth fairy? No problem! Just come to us and we’ll confirm you are a tooth fairy.

Gen. Satterfield, this is the kind of article that pushes me to read more and think about the main issues addressed. Well done in that manner. Have you ever considered writing a book on this?

Excellent article and the kind I’d like to see more of here in https://www.theleadermaker.com. I know that you have profiled many writers and leaders in your features here but Gen. Satterfield, perhaps you could consider this a regular feature. Just thinking.

For a Saturday! Great post. Thank you Miranda Devine for your wit and insights. More articles and MORE BOOKs would be much appreciated. I just ordered her book, ‘Laptop from Hell.” I plan to give a few copies out to what few liberal-progressive friends I have left. After they get the book, which pushes them to deny reality, they will no longer be my friends and I don’t give a sh$$.

Yes, Gen. Satterfield, I saw the article and really liked it too. She punches hard. Great to have commonsense people in positions of influence instead of the attention-seeking, morons we find on “news” shows like CNN or MSNBC. ✔

Miranda Devine, a columnist of the NY Post, is one of my favorite writers that is able to “see” contemporary America and put that sight into her articles and communicate it strikingly to us. Great job, Gen. Satterfield, highlighting her articles.
