You Gotta Be Tough to be Good

By | August 8, 2022

[August 8, 2022]  You have to be tough to be good.  You have to stand your ground when needed and be willing to say ‘no’ when it’s time to say no.  It takes character to do that, and character is something that has to be cultivated, in part, by telling the truth and willingly adopting responsibility.

This is not an easy path.  You have the tyranny of culture, the catastrophe of nature, and you have our own malevolence and ignorance all coming at you.  In addition, you have the unknown potential of the future that reveals itself only haltingly.  You can either be afraid and cringe away from it and victimized by it, becoming bitter and cynical about it.

Alternatively, you can stand your ground and say, ‘bring it on.’  There is more to you than the catastrophe.  We all have a bit of totalitarianism within us.  We have to learn to integrate that into ourselves to make us stronger, not weaker, which is not so easy.  That is why having a noble goal to aim at is so important.

If you are willing to set things right and aim with all your strength at that noble goal, then you are more powerful than cultural corruption, nature’s desire to kill you, or the devil in your heart.  You can overcome those upheavals and cataclysms when the disasters are at your door.

The question we all search for is most elusive.  What makes life meaningful?  What makes life good?  What you most want to be found will be found where you least want to look.  There is going to be terrible darkness in our lives.  And it will make you contemptuous, cynical, willfully blind, and unpleasant.  But, if you are willing to stand up to it, then you will find that there is more to you than you can imagine.

That is the way to a life that is worthwhile.  Be strong, be very strong.  That is the path to being good.

Just like the saying that you gotta be tough to be old. Both are right. Thanks Gen. Satterfield.

Right. Gen. Satterfield has a very insightful observation here: “This is not an easy path. You have the tyranny of culture, the catastrophe of nature, and you have our own malevolence and ignorance all coming at you. In addition, you have the unknown potential of the future that reveals itself only haltingly. You can either be afraid and cringe away from it and victimized by it, becoming bitter and cynical about it.”

“Character is something that has to be cultivated, in part, by telling the truth and willingly adopting responsibility.” — Gen. Doug Satterfield. This is a very common theme in his leadership blog. And, it is no accident because the idea has been one of the core ideas of the West for a long time. And, the West has developed, in part, because of it. Get on board and tell the truth, it prevents the decay of your culture. Dr. Jordan Peterson discussed this idea and also has it as the center of his advice to men and women. I also recommend watching him on YouTube.

Sadly, being tough is no longer valued (at least by the weak). If you are weak these days and are a victim, you are held in higher esteem than the strong. But when things go bad, the victims are thrown out the window and everyone runs to the strong for protection.

This is why everyone runs to America. But the Biden-Harris tyranny is weakening America.

Sounds a lot like common sense but as we know, nothing is common sense any more with all the nutty progressive, neo-Marxist Democrats around.

Yep, and they play dirty politics all the time. Their entire world is covered in the dirt of politics and they love it. Wrestle with them and you come out dirty.

Come on Commie Red, stand up for yourself, just don’t throw a short note out and expect us to go “woozy” on you. Get with it.
