Young Men Looking for Direction, Connection, & Validation

[May 8, 2025]  In a discussion between Dr. Jordan Peterson and political commentator Charlie Kirk were unwrapping what they see as a change in young men in America. Charlie Kirk has been going out to college campuses now for over a decade and acting as a role model for how to be a good young man.

“Young men are looking for something else. They’re looking for direction and connection.  They’re also looking for validation in the way they’re thinking, the way they’re feeling that they are directionally correct. They’re not meandering through life. Not having the aimless despair of walking in circles.” — Charlie Kirk

Charlie sees an unexpected, seismic shift in the attitudes of men in what he calls “the rebellion of the men of the West.”  He further says that no one is talking about this. No one wants to acknowledge it.  No one, especially those professors and professionals from the colleges, business, and the government.

Noting that Charlie Kirk is a conservative and a Republican, he ties his interview comments to how Donald Trump ran a decisively “masculine” campaign to target young men and sway them to his side. As a key part of his action plan to connect with these young men, Trump went on male-dominated podcasts like Joe Rogan and Theo Von.

More importantly, Charlie rhetorically asks why this is happening. His question is important in the context of a college campus and where the educational system remains hyper-feminine.  Additionally, campuses are no longer welcoming to men, especially white men who are Christians.

There appears to be a general cultural shift to emasculate boys and men. For example, he references a New York Times article (a Leftist legacy media outlet) that notes that boys diagnosed with ADHD are medicated, not for them, but for the parents (so presumably, the parents don’t have to deal with the stress of the rough and tumble activities of boys).  The NYT’s article states that there is no medical reason for this “over-prescription” of medication on boys.

Dr. Jordan Peterson connects this idea to the public education system that encourages parents to go the medication route for their boys. Plus, he references “this trans-butchery nightmare” that his profession was “stunningly craven in their unwillingness to resist this mantra to parents.”

Dr. Peterson mimics the argument in support of transgender medication and surgery, “Would you rather have a live trans child or a dead child?”  There was never a shred of evidence to support this argument inside the scientific or medical community, those that actually studied the unsupported idea that some “boys are born in women’s bodies.”  The promotion of this idea is evil, and Dr. Peterson states they should be in prison.

It is interesting to hear Charlie Kirk also discuss why he zoomed in on colleges as the place where he’s brought the ideas of political conservatism and his role model behavior. He talks about being rejected by West Point but how that was actually good for him. Visiting his friends in college, he realized that this was where he needed to dedicate his time to make a difference for young men.

Let us not overlook the importance of this problem with young men. They look for guidance and there must be real MEN who are willing to give that mentoring to them.

Well done, Gen. Satterfield to highlight this problem aand that young men are looking for something worthwhile in their lives. I will note that they are not looking at the neo-Marxist ideologies like DEI and Woke as the solution but are after finding work to allow them some relief in life and to do those things they want. They are also looking to get married and have a family. Young women, on the other hand are looking for the opposite. That is why so Amy young women have mental problems.

A man’s world is still here and thriving behind the scenes. Men don’t take no SH## from nobody, especially single, fat, stupid, liberal, white, cat ladies.

Gen. Satterfield has, once again, hit upon an issue of the ages — that young men (actually all men and women) are looking for direction, connection, and validation. I’m not so sure about “validation” but I can tell you from direct experience working with hundreds of High School and College young men that they are missing out on the world and they know it. There are many factors like a toxic feminism movement that went off the rails many years ago by adopting their neo-Marxism values, weak political leaders (others here have said the same thing), the feminization of education from K thru Grad School, DEI and Wokeism, and an economy that has outsourced mostly jobs that went to men. Regardless of reason, young men in particular have taken a big hit. Combine that with the “Girl Boss” phenom and – pow- you have a terrible toxic mix of ingrediants that push young men down and out.

I have been praying 🙏 for our young men, as they’ve been attacked relentlessly as toxic, hyper active, violent, misogynistic, and stupid. That is led by feminists and weak liberal politicians.

Yep, I’d like to see Gen. Satterfield develop this idea a little further. I know he is highlighting what he sees as an important topic but we don’t get to read his thoughts on it.

I agree but I will also note that there are many who have already done so.

This article touches lightly on a very serious topic that we should all pay close attention to if we are to survive the coming difficulties in any modern society with millions of people, and the world. Today, Pakistan and India are going at it with the threat of nuclear weapons use. I don’t think they will go that far, but hey, Pakistan in particular is a peculiar place with a 100% Muslim population not known for their control over their emotions. Let’s keep an eye on this developing situation. I’d like to hear what Gen. Satterfield has to say about it.

This is from the article by Gen. Satterfield but I thought it important enough to paste it here due to its importance:

This is directly over the target and explains, in part, why Gen. Satterfield takes some flak.

Sir, we all appreciate what you are doing for us with these artilcles that show us the right answers. Many of us need that hit to the face (metaphorically, of course) to now motivate us to improve upon ourselves and our families. Sir, thank you for the bottom of my heart.

Gen. Satterfield has put me onto both Dr. Jordan Peterson and Mr. Charlie Kirk. Both these men are examples on how to be good men. They tell the truth as best they can, are believers in our Lord and Savior, and give useful advice to young men – to all of us – and yet are relentlessly attacked by the radical Leftists because leftists believe that no one who is down is their fault. It’s always the “oppressor.” The oppressor, as we now know, is themselves.

Exactly! Leftist don’t believe in taking responsibility to improve one’s self because it’s the ‘fact’ you are being oppressed is why you don’t succeed. And if you call out those like Charlie Kirk and Jordan Peterson, then you have taken the moral high ground and deserve accolades from everyone. This is a very appealing way to think you can gain an advantage and be ‘superior’ to others by taking the Leftist ideology on and help spread the work. You get everything for doing little. And you get to feel good too. Why? Because you are now automatically morally superior.
