Hungary’s Border Fence and Media Bias

By | August 2, 2021

[August 2, 2021]  This is why people don’t trust the mainstream media anymore, and the loss of this trust was predictable.  Reporting on Hungary’s border fence is predictably biased from Western news media sources.  The media has a leftist political bias that promotes opinion and does not report facts that do not fit their ideological mold.

This leftist bias is certainly not new, and I have reported it several times (see examples here, here, and here).  The bias is so blatant that I have allowed it to become one of the minor themes of my blog.  In my opinion, when leaders allow themselves to tolerate bias, especially political bias, trust will be lost.  A loss of trust is a big problem in societies built upon trust.

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk claimed that after Hungary built a border wall a couple of years ago, “illegal immigration collapsed by 99%.”  “Illegal immigration went from 391,000 to 1,184” from 2015 to 2017.  The fact-checking website Snopes went after Charlie Kirk but eventually admitted what Kirk wrote was “true.”1

Snopes, however, attributed the drastic drop in illegal immigration to several other facts that came into play from the Hungarian government. Such as stricter illegal immigration laws make it a crime, a decline overall in migration, other countries also closing their borders and sending illegal migrants back to countries like Serbia.  And Snopes points out the criticism Hungary received from the “international community.”

“It was not unknown what the most effective way to handle illegal border crossings is. Like it or not, and that’s the point we always make, there is no more effective way [to stop] illegal border crossings than building a physical barrier,” – Zoltán Kovács, a spokesperson for the Hungarian government

Good. They were fact-checking the fact-checkers in the right business of those who wish to expose the neo-Marxist ideology of the left.  MediaBiasFactCheck.com does precisely that, and they give you a chance to give your input as well.  When I answered, the unscientific poll results showed that 51% believe Snopes has a left-center or left bias.  Only 1% gave it a center-right or right bias.  The remaining 38% said Snopes was “least biased.”2

It’s no surprise the mainstream U.S. media refuses to report this story to the American public. Can you imagine how support for a Southern border wall would spike?3

Media bias in the US is staggering. They have become a leftist, anti-American mob. They are less educated today than in the past, less patriotic, less caring as a group, and more likely to be an atheist. They are not what Americans are like. This article on Hungary’s border fence is a case in point where their ideological blinders keep these news media people blinded to reality. We all suffer for their personal failures.

Thanks Willie and I think you understate their bias.

Thanks Gen. Satterfield for bringing up the country of Hungary for their work to stem the tide of illegal immigration. I can understand Muslims running out of their countries that are torn by war and famine. They caused it. But now we have to contend with a religious ideology that is not tolerate of others. And they are bringing their filth with them. It’s a fact. Ignore the fact and suffer the consequences.

You get an upvote from me. Old Warrior, you are telling us what we already know but that doesn’t make it untrue like some will claim.

Good for the Hungarians! They figured it out. No PC ideology creeping into their decision making. Maybe I should move there. At least I don’t have to wear a face diaper.

Many of the Eastern Europeans have a history of being slaughtered by conquerors. They figured out what works and what does not work. They don’t play political games. Survival is what matters. Americans are just plain lazy. No offense but that is true. Cheers!

Hi Brit Cit. You are right. We have the luxury of being lazy.

Media bias has contributed to Americans becoming more politically polarized. When we can’t identify, understand and appreciate diverse perspectives, we are more likely to be manipulated into thinking or voting a certain way. We may even begin to see the other side as evil. Hidden bias limits our ability to understand others, problem solve and compromise, and our republic suffers.

Yep! Here is a good quote from the article “These aren’t so much reports, in other words, as write-ups. There isn’t even an attempt at original fact-finding. The sourcing is almost entirely derived from the posts and videos of left-wing activists, which are taken at face value. “

The news media is controlling the Democratic Party. Any one who votes for them is an idiot or part of their scam.

Read both articles. Nothing new here. Just the fact that without a press that is trustworthy, we are all in for a bad time.
