Italy’s Firebrand Prime Minister

[June 2, 2025]  Italy’s firebrand Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni is back in the news for taking on France’s President Emmanuel Macron for calling Italy ‘irresponsible’ and ‘disgusting’ over immigration.  PM Meloni didn’t just hit back, she slam-dunked Macron.

“Emmanuel Macron described us as disgusting, cynics, and irresponsible.  And here the Italian press began to ask, ‘Did you hear what Macron said about us?’  He said we’re irresponsible.  What a shame.  The irresponsible Emmanuel Macron, are those who bombed Libya because they were concerned that Italy would obtain important energy concessions with Gaddafi and left us facing chaos of illegal immigration we are facing now.” – PM Giorgia Meloni

The narrative here is a translation, but it is better to listen to her speaking in Italian to get a feel for the emotion she uses to target Macron.

In October 2022, I wrote about her as the incoming PM and how she then also crushed Macron for telling Italians essentially the same thing.

What we have here, in politics, is what we call a populist leader.  They are rare in European politics because anyone who is a “firebrand” or “populist” is too close to those who rose to power through fascism.  Europeans equate populist with “right wing,” meaning something bad.  And they are happy to describe all sorts of horrible things as being right-wing.

“Before Meloni took power, The Atlantic headlined her rise as ‘The Return of Fascism in Italy.’ Most of the legacy press agreed, viewing her as akin to other European populists they have characterized as threats to liberal democracy. But that’s not quite how things turned out.” – The Free Press, September 29, 2024

It has not been easy for her to work her way out of the label of “neo-fascist” that the press and many socialist-leaning leaders have critiqued her and her party.  Anytime a party in the West bases its popularity on nationalism, the Leftists see it as an existential “threat to democracy.”  In knee-jerk fashion, they associate nationalism with military aggression and authoritarianism.

“The cynics, Emmanuel Macron, are the French who send the gendarmerie to return any immigrant trying to cross the border in Ventimiglia.  And most of all and because theings have to be said right.  Disgusting is France that continues to exploit Africa by printing to 14 African countries, charging them mint fees, and by children labor in the mines and by extracting raw materials as it is happening in Niger where France extracts 30% of the uranium it needs to run its nuclear reactors, while 90% of Niger’s population lives without electricity.”

And she’s not done yet.

“Do not come to teach us a lesson, Marcon. The Africans are abandoning their continent because of you.  The solution is not to transfer Africans to Europe but to liberate Africa from some Europeans.  We will not accept lessons from you.  Is that clear?”

Maybe it’s a good thing that Macron’s wife recently slapped him upside the head.  He needs some commonsense knocked into him.

If only more countries had strong, morally-centered leaders like her, the world would be a better place. But too many like Canada and England would rather have weak, effete men in charge.

Ouch. And like brain dead Joe Biden, enemy of reality and common sense.

She is the exact opposite of Joe Biden, who was clueless. Plus Joe Biden had his pions surround him with a security blanket and everyone from the media to the Democrats lied about that fact. I love Italy just for her. Keep up the great work you are doing.

I couldn’t understand her, but I could FEEL the energy and when she mention Macron’s name, she nearly spit it out. Ha Ha. Never trust the French.

Great article on a great leader. PM Meloni shows the world that a woman can, indeed, be a great leader much like Margaret Thatcher of England.

    – Decisiveness. Plus the courage to see an opportunity and take it.
    – Determination. She had a passion for her country and for freedom.
    – Rooted values. Her Methodist upbringing taught her the importance of moral purpose, self-help, charitable work, and personal authenticity.
    – Collaboration. She knew the importance of listening to the opinions of others. “I love argument. I love debate. I don’t expect anyone just to sit there and agree with me – that’s not their job”.
    – Confidence. She exuded confidence when she was representing her country on any stage.

Yes, I remember that article too and Margaret Thatcher will go down as one of the best PMs of Great Britain next to Winston Churchill.

The Great Awokening revealed to us how insane the political left was willing to make itself, and to attempt to coerce the rest of us to be, for the sake of upholding its ideological verities. Respect the female penis, bigot, and so forth. It spread with pandemic speed through the left because liberals who knew better were afraid to speak out. With limited exception, they were silent. – Scott Johnson of PowerLineBlog today, 6-2-2025 on this very subject what the demented left can do to us and our institutions.

Nothing like a strong leader who, puts their citizens first. And that is what the biased, leftist, commie news media call “right wing extremism.” And also “fascist” and of course they don’t even know what their words mean except that that it is an effective slur.

Correct and they get away with it in the intellectual vacuum they exist within. To them, their words are descriptive and a slur is okay. But if someone calls them out on their lack of accountability and accuracy, they scream “words are literally violence.” Naturally, they see themselves as the guardians of democracy but nothing could be further from the truth.

Never ever trust the media. Gen. Satterfield has written about the lack of trust in the media and he is spot on.
