Student Sent Back to 9th Grade from 12th

By | February 13, 2026

[February 13, 2026]  We should not be surprised by what happens in a Baltimore school.  The education system has been in free fall for decades.  Recently, a student was sent back from his senior year, 12th grade, to the 9th grade.  Shocking?  Nope, not at all.

In a WBFF Fox 45 News story, it is reported that in Baltimore public schools, hundreds are failing.  And it gets much worse than we might expect.  In this story, the news found a student who passed three classes in four years and is ranked near the top half of his school.

The mother of the student was interviewed and thought that her son was about to get his High School diploma.  She was unhappy that her son didn’t get a chance to graduate.  After four years of school, she just learned that her 17-year-old son has to start over.

“Why would he do three more years in school?  He didn’t fail, his school failed him. They failed.  They failed.  He didn’t deserve that.”  – mother of 17 year old

This kind of thinking is classic.  The mother is blaming the school for failing her son.  She is partly right, the school did fail him.  But more importantly, she is the one who is ultimately responsible and she is unwilling to admit that fact.

Fox 45 News goes on to show that in only passing three courses (he got a D minus in one).  The other two grades are not shown.  His transcripts for the four years show that his GPA is 0.13 out of 4.0.

The news reporter says that the mother has three children and works three jobs.  She thought her son was doing well because even though he failed most of his classes, he was being promoted [to higher levels].  For example, he failed Spanish 1 and Algebra 1 and English 2, only to be promoted to the next level in each.

In her son’s first three years of school, he failed 22 classes and was late or absent 272 times.  Only once in those three years only one teacher requested a teacher-parent conference, while the mother claims it did not happen.

What was his class rank?  The 17-year old was 62 out of 120 in his senior year.  This means that nearly half his class, 58 of them, have a GPA of lower than 0.13.

“He’s a good kid.  He didn’t deserve that.  Where is the mentors?  Where is the help?” – mother

Fox News 5 also interviewed, anonymously, a school teacher who admitted the school failed, and implied the mother was not at fault. This is an example of why schools fail.  They fail because the parents also fail.  And the parents put all the blame on the schools, when in reality, they share responsibility.

One thing I’ve got to say about the mother is that she is doing right, she is trying to figure out how this happened and what to do about it.  So far, from what I saw, she is willing to take some responsibility upon herself.  And that is the only way this will be fixed.

However, the Baltimore public schools are trash.  And little will be done until the public sees more news stories like this.

American Girl makes a good point that WBFF Fox 45 is on top of the horrible conditions of the Baltimore schools, despite having tons of money being spent. Originally, I had identified the station as Fox 5, now corrected in the article.

I see that Fox 45 in Baltimore has been doing a series on the failures of the school district. I recommend them. For example, they did one recently on a kid in high school who missed over 200 days of school, but was counted as present and passed all his courses. He was black. No one should be shocked by the depravity of the situation. The school administrators are all black and sucking down tons of taxpayer money. They simply don’t care that Baltimore is failing their black students. They get paid. They get respect. They get accolades. They get the attention. No matter that what they are doing is a gross failure measured by any standard. Because the city government is all in the Democrat Party and all of them are black, nothing is going to change in the short term. If you live there with kids, get out. And get out now! Very un-American.

This happened four years ago. Today, the young man would have gotten his diploma, yet likely unable to read or add 2 plus 2. I’ve seen this pattern before in large cities dominated by Democrat politicians where the population is mostly black. There is no corrective action taken because anyone saying, “Hey this is wrong, we need to fix it,” will be vilified as “racists.” This is what happens when the woke mind virus (see comments below) takes hold. Most of us are just like, “Let them rot.”

Surprised? NO … not at all. Baltimore, MD schools have been failing for a long time now. Why am I not surprised? The school system is nearly all black. The teachers are black. The school administrators are black. The city government is black. The state is run by Democrats. That means they have adopted the “I’m a victim” mentality. And, as long as the schools are run by victim blacks, the schools will continue to fail. And they will do so spectacularly.
