The Ukraine War or Civil War of the West

By | November 30, 2022

[November 30, 2022]  We are now entering what will be the Winter War phase of the Ukraine War.  Both sides have made their mark and have settled down to the seriousness of their battles, while the early part of the war is concluded.  I will propose there is another way to view this war; it is a Civil War inside the West.

Let’s begin with a proposition that may surprise many.  No one gives a damn about Ukraine and never cared one bit, despite our protestations.  What this war is about, I will argue here, is actually about the radical hedonism of the West and its underlying neo-Marxist ideology.  Those who wish to destabilize the West, destroy capitalism and the free market, undermine the Enlightenment, and destroy Christianity see their day and are marching toward that goal.

The Russians, the Poles, the Indians, the Hungarians, and others from Eastern Europe are seeing what is happening in Canada, America, and western Europe.  They think that we have gone out of our minds.  We have gone out of our minds.  There is a culture war in the West, it is real, and now the battle is on.  The Russian invasion of Ukraine is part of that war.

To be clear, Russia is part of the West.  Yes, the leaders in Russia are indeed imperialistic, nationalistic, and thuggish.  The Russians nonetheless believe that no matter what, they cannot trust the West, being so much out of their minds to raise gender equity, inclusiveness, and diversity to such a pinnacle that it is absurd to any sane mind.

Russia would rather destroy Ukraine than have a Western-influenced and such depravity at its border.  And would rather risk nuclear war or something just as destructive to keep the “evil” of the West off their doorstep.  This is precisely what Putin tells his people; they believe he is right.  The Russians believe they have the highest moral duty to oppose the West’s degenerate ideas, philosophies, and theology.  And there is something about that that is not wrong.

That is why the incursion of Russia into Ukraine is more truly a Civil War in the West.  It should be pointed out that it is not only the Russians who object to the nightmare of compassionate , neo-Marxist authoritarianism that possesses the West.  All the eastern European countries who have grown under the thumb of the Stalinist burden are watching the resurgence of these demented ideas among their new allies with stunned disbelief.

All those countries characterized by a pearl of traumatic wisdom are unhappy that the West is rejecting the very principles of equality of opportunity.  And now we are kowtowing to enforced equity or equality of outcome and the opportunism and narcissism of the radical left.

If our leaders had any sense, they would stop comparing Putin to Hitler or Stalin and focus on exactly what the Russians want.  Our leaders are fully and willfully blind to Russia.  That is why they will do anything to destroy Putin because they see him only as a caricature of a hedonistic hooligan.

The Russians are already integrated into the world economy in a way that cannot be compromised without devastating global consequences.  Those who oppose Russia have not yet woken up to the idea of what the loss of Russia would look like.  We have not thought it through.  And I’m not on the side of Russia or Putin.  Russia started this war; they did it on their own, and they bear full responsibility for it.  But we should play this game very carefully.

If we continue down this path, energy prices will skyrocket (hurting the poor), and our environmental ideology will worsen an upcoming energy crisis.  Food shortages are just on the horizon and will begin to be felt in the early Spring of next year; the upward pressure on necessities will continue, leading to a severe humanitarian problem.

Remember that Russia is a nuclear power.  They produce about 15% of the world’s total energy supplies.  And those that think Russia will fold under the economic pressure of the West do not know the Russians.  Their experience in the 20th century should tell us something about their tenacity.  We will not cow them into submission.

And, the East is sitting back and watching the Ukraine War.  All this works to their advantage.  For example, the Chinese Communists and their authoritarian system will only grow.  We are too shortsighted, foolish, selfish, shallow, and ungrateful to notice.  Our wealth deludes us into believing in our competence and moral superiority.  That delusion will haunt us for a long time, and the outcome will not be pretty.

I would had that this war is not going to end with a win by Ukraine or Russia.

A civil war in the West. I had no idea but since I read this article, now I see others making a similar but with slightly different reasons. Gen. Satterfield has taken his ideas about war and strengthened them. Well done.

Is the Ukraine War really the beginning of a Civil War in the West? I’m not so sure. But the argument is a good one. Let’s think about it for a while and discuss it here in Gen. S’s leadership forum. Thanks to all in advance to who want to participate.

Many in the West also want to “humiliate” Putin and yet he is the least worst leader of Russia in a century. What do we think will replace him? Someone who wants democracy? Or someone less brutal? Or less anti-West in their view? I doubt it. Don’t mess with the Russian Bear.

Mike you are right. Just like the Treaty of Versailles after WW1 was designed to humiliate Germany. Look what that got us with the rise of Nazi Germany and WW2. Didn’t turn out too well did it?

Excellent point Mike. Defeat Putin? Yes. Humiliate Putin and Russia? No. We all have to live with the outcome.

Got my copy. Great book. Early quote from Gen. Doug Satterfield:
“If you are interested in making yourself a better person, getting fulfillment from life, or making a difference, this book is for you. “

“Yes, you should be better than you are, but it’s not because you’re worse than other people. It’s because you’re not everything you should be.” POW, now that is good thinking. Thank you Gen. S for what you do for us and helping us see another part of us that makes us better and to reject some of the emotional parts that drag us down or how to use that to make our selves better. 👀👀

Wow, now I have to think about this perspective on the Ukraine War. A civil war (big letter Civil War) – and what are the sides fighting about?
